Peter Cullen Answers Fan questions about playing Optimus Prime again

Collider.com has posted an interview with the legendary Peter Cullen, the original voice of G1 Optimus Prime, as well as the live action movies, Transformers Prime, and now Titans Return. In addition, Mr. Cullen answers some fan questions from Twitter as well.

What is one thing you look for in an offer to play Optimus Prime that makes you say, “Yes”?

Peter Cullen: It’d be no surprise to say that [it’s] the consistency of the character. As long as the character is the original, then it’s a go. If it varies from it, without good reason or explanation, then I would … I’ve never had to say, “No,” but I would if it didn’t meet those prerogatives.

What are the core values that make up Optimus Prime?

Cullen: Originally, the character stood out for his very demonstrative sense of trustworthiness and leadership qualities that were deeply embedded into this steel body, for one reason or another. It was the qualities of human leadership within that character, and they were all there: Strength, honesty, nobility, trustworthiness, a wonderful sense of courage that is not egotistical courage, it’s more of a giving courage, a caring courage. Those qualities really stood out back then.

Transformers: The Last Knight has lowest opening of series

By almost any measure, $69 million is a heck of a lot of money.

Not so for “Transformers: The Last Knight,” which is tracking to make that much in North America during its five-day opening frame. The problem isn’t just that it’s up against a $217 million production budget, although that’s part of it. With China powering an estimated $196.2 million international opening, Paramount and Hasbro are leaning on the film’s global appeal to justify its place in the series.

But the bigger red flag for “Transformers” No. 5 lies in the franchise’s history of opening at around $100 million domestically for the past three installments. This raises a lot of questions, all centering around who or what is to blame for “The Last Knight’s” lower numbers. Here are three reasons why the movie may have underperformed.

Forbes Magazine reviews the Transformers blu-ray release

Transformers-the-Movie-1986-featureThe upcoming blu-ray release of “Transformers: The Move” gets a good review from Forbes magazine.

While there have been other Blu-Ray versions of the movie before this release, this version is based off a new 4K transfer. The results are incredible, as the level of detail is far higher than previous versions and the vibrancy of the colors are especially vivid. Screenshots also don’t do justice to this new remaster, as it looks far better in motion.

As this year also marks the 30th anniversary for the movie, this release also comes packed with all sorts of extras, from a new documentary about the making of the movie as well as other featurettes and new audio commentaries. This set also affords two discs, with the movie available in either full frame or widescreen formats.
