Re: March Hauls
Of all the characters to remake, they picked one that really, really, desperately need a remake. Picked up Universe Wheelie today at TRU, and it's a massive improvement on the original. But how could it not be?
Re: March Hauls
He's far and away my favorite figure of the wave-- best transformation, most solid, and even a striking color pallette. Cosmos has a great robot mode, but the saucer mode is disappointingly unstable. Warpath is okay for what he is-- I would haver preferred a less poseable figure that turned into a better looking tank, but oh well. Rodimus is a solid little toy, but outside of standing him next to Cybertron Leader Class Prime to complete the Star Convoy homage, I don't know that I'll have that much use for him.andersonh1 wrote:Of all the characters to remake, they picked one that really, really, desperately need a remake. I've seen Rodimus in stores and I'll probably skip it, since classics Rodimus is a perfectly adequate Hot Rod update as far as I'm concerned. I haven't seen Cosmos or Warpath yet, but I plan to buy them when I do.Mirage wrote:He's far and away my favorite figure of the wave-- best transformation, most solid, and even a striking color pallette. Some characters don't work well as Legends, but they can update mini-bots as Legends figures all day long as far as I'm concerned. Although when it comes to Beachcomber, I think the original actually looks better than the remake.

Re: March Hauls
Woo, Box.
- 25th Starscream. This is my..lessee..seventh of this mould. Original Flavour, Hasbro Skywarp, BotCon Thundy, Henkei Skywarp, Henkei Thundy, Acid Storm, 25thscream. Plus Ramjet, but he doesn't quite count. Hot damn them's a lotta Seekers. I own more of this than even the original Seeker mould. Which is saying a lot, since I have five of that plus Thrust and Dirge and the G2 seekers. This one's okay, white could be greyer. Uses Takara's tricks to make the jet mode look better, robot mode's a bit bland, but it's much more Starscreamy than Original Flavour. Really only got this in lieu of HenkeiScream. Favourite use of the mould? BotCon Thundy.
- Hasbro Cyclonus. I have Takara's, and wasn't too fond of the shade of purple, so I got Hasbro's as well. Hasbro's unchromed Nightstick is cooler, but Cyc himself suffers from many small problems - mainly the mismatched thigh plastic, and the sides of his chest being grey. Urk! Ruins the whole robot mode's lines with that colour break. The helmet being grey painted purple instead of purple painted grey is a bad move too. Lightpiping's a better shade of red, and the actual purple shade is excellent. Still, disappointing. It's the arms that let this mould down, they're too long and badly hinged, and needed an upper arm swivel to succeed. If you have the choice, get Takara's Cyclonus, even if he's not as dark a purple as he should be.
- Premium Blackout: Had been waiting on this for a while. Never came out on the island I live on, but it did come out in North Island, so I had a fellow collector nab one for me. Dunno why I now own three different versions of a mould I don't like a lot, although this is admittedly a really nice deco with lots of subtle details and a nifty painted Scorpy.

Discounting my customs, you have more of the neo-F15 than I do.

Re: March Hauls
I got a Cobra H.I.S.S. This is the first (and likely last) Joe vehicle I've ever owned, and for one thing, it just feels weird to have a toy vehicle that doesn't turn into anything.
Still looks pretty cool, and applying the stickers was it's own surreal brand of fun. Kind of an annoying point: Thanks to his holster, the HISS Commander that comes with the thing can't actually sit in the cockpit. Whoops. So I've got him manning the turret while a Resolute Trooper drives it. Admittedly, pretty much the only reason I got this was so I could place the suspiciously Commisar-esque Resolute Cobra Commander atop it, saber pointed forward for full-on "Drive me closer! I want to hit them with my sword!" effect. And it works quite well for that. Another cool thing about this: Target already had it marked down to $15, but there was a blackout while I was waiting in the checkout line, and we had to wait a while for the computers to reboot. So the checkout clerk took the price down to $12 for the wait! Score!

Re: March Hauls
Yeah, I greaty dislike Joe vehicles, even though I ended up with quite a few of them. They kept packing O13 guys in with them, dammit. And yeah, I got the HISS, too, because I wanted a HISS. (I got the first release that came with a Trooper repaint rather than a HISS driver proper.) But I didn't experience the same thing you did with the HISS Driver legs, hrmm.
I got AHM #7 and 8, because they were there, and I had some money, and I decided to actually read them as opposed to reading summaries and stuff. It's Good, still, and I'm definitely seeing plot progression.

Robot Heroes Sunstreaker and Galvatron, inspired by AHM #8.
