Overlord: a updated homage new mold based off the character/toy
designs from the Japanese Takara Masterforce 1988 toyline/cartoon
series.

packaging,both voyager sized toys will be packaged together & sold in
a leader sized box+price point.

A voyager sized black long nose stealth jet similar in design to the
1988 masterforce overlord black jet.

A Voyager sized teal green/blue tank design similar in design to the
1988 materforce overlord tank design.

Keeping true to the 1988 materforce overlord neither vechicle will
have a separate/individual robot mode.

each voyager sized vechicle will have a animal alt mode. I'd envision
the black stealth jet would be able to transform into a dragon with wings. while the tank would be able to transform
into a lion.

they'll be a combined mode like the 1988 masterforce overlord has.
both the tank & jet will combine to form a huge robot. i'd envision
the combined process will be similar to the energon 2-in-1 voyager
combiners. the black jet will form the upper robot mode,while the tank
forms the lower robot.

The main reason I decided to add a animal alt mode. was because I
figured the kids would find a jet or tank with no individual robot
mode booring. just trying to make the original concept more exciting
for the kids.

they'll be 2 mini-con that are included with this figure. they'll be a
few mini-con ports on the toys. they'll be 2 mini-con ports on the
left & right upper chest of the combined overlord robot mode. for each
mionicon to attach to like breast plates. similar to what armada
tidalwaves minicon does.

I'm not certain if I want both minicons to have vechicle or animal alt
modes.
either way both minicons will combine to form a gun for the combiner
robot overlord to hold in his hand.

repaint idea for overlord: Starscream & megatron combine to form
galvatron.
autobot recolor idea for overlord: sky & lynx combine to form skylynx

I'd envision the black stealth jet would be able to transform into a T-rex/ brontosauras type dinosaur. while the tank would be able to transform into a lion.

Only part I don't get. Dinosaur and lion? What's the theme? Surely they should transform into something relevant. I mean, the best I could think of would be a hawk and a snake, in reference to Buster and Hydra's armour, but you've really set yourself quite a logistics challenge here.

Of course, I'm not reeeaaally sure how or why you'd shoehorn Overlord into DotM in the first place. What would his purpose be, storywise? He'd need tech specs on his packaging, after all. Or do you just love G1 homages that much? =p

I fixed & editted out the black stealth jet transforming into a t-rex/brontosauras. I think a better animal alt mode for the black stealth jet would be a dragon with wings.

the Movie verse toy lines have more budget money,more resources,more man power talent,more retailers who order movie verse toys in higher volume units compared to other TF toy lines.

I figured DOTM Leader sized Overlord could be a non-movie TF toy like various non-movie TF toys are. Other non-movie TF toys got written bios/tech spec stories on the back of their boxes/blister cards. If hasbro wanted to they could ask IDW to place DOTM Overlord in their movie verse comics,that IDW releases each month.

Still not sure there's any cohesion to the animal altmodes beyond being "kewl"... I actually think a well done two-bot combiner alone would suffice. If it was *well done*, which is the real challenge. Recent combiners have really underwhelmed me.

I think kids today & fans would feel cheated if their was 2 voyager sized alt modes that did nothing but combine into a leader sized robot mode.

the 2 voyager sized alt modes need to do something on their own in order for everyone not to complain feel cheated.
having the tank transform into a lion,having the black stealth jet transform into a dragon. then having both beast modes merge to form a super beast like 1986 skylynx. then having both alt modes combine to form a super robot. will make buyers feel like they bought a TF toy with tons of potential play value & not feel cheated.

I don't think Hasbro can get away with releasing duo-cons in todays market in 2011/beyond like they did in the 1980's. masterforce overlord was always considered a over-sized duo-con,so was skylynx.

I meant that the tank and jet would have individual robot modes. Makes more sense to me than beast modes, which seems arbitrary; at least robot modes can be made an homage to Overlord. You'd be better off designing an entirely new toy with no attempt at linking it to a previous Decepticon leader.

It's kinda like designing a Deathsaurus homage whose Breasters turn into vehicles, know what I mean?

I think if you're adamant about involving beast modes, then Sky Lynx is a much more logical choice to homage here. Overlord has a lot more potential than this, being a Double Godmaster with an actual backstory, not to mention a base mode (which really need to come back, in my opinion).

having the tank & jet get individual robot modes. would have too much kibble in the combined overlord super robot mode. similr to those energon autobots 2-in-1 robot kibble in the combined mode.

I think having the tank & get individual animal modes would look fun,creative & produce less kibble in the combined overlord super robot mode.

the tank mode would have the 4 treads as the four beast legs,the tail of the lion would be the tank canon. the lion beast head would pop up from a hidden panel inside the tank.

the black stealth jet would have the jet nose section extend & transform in the dragon neck & head. the front jet nose would open to reveal teeth. the wings of the steakth jet would transform a bit to form the dragon wings. the jet landing gear would fold down from the bottom back & form the dragon back feet. panels would open in the sides of the jet near the front to reveal the 2 front dargon legs. similar to 1986 skylynx's toy the back top jet fins could push out the back then extend & form the dragon's beast tail.

all this beast kibble would be hidden when the tank & jet combine to form the super robot overlord.

I think that TM really wants a new Overlord, (which we can all get behind), but is trying to account for the fact that Hasbro tries to get double use out of moulding.

Ah. I guess that's why I'm not really on board. Still think Sky Lynx makes more sense for this particular concept, though.
