Price Check: Classics Magnus

Buying and trading on the open robot market! Optimus Prime might call this slavery, but he's never had to track down Energon Ultra Magnus before.

Price Check: Classics Magnus

Post by 138 Scourge »

Simple enough. What do one of these go for these days? Considering selling mine, and, while I'm not trying to get rich here, wouldn't mind making a lil' coin off of it.

The only two I found on ebay were each 67.00 for loose and complete Magnus, but I dunno if that's normal, really. Tough to tell from two examples, y'know?

You sure this is Classics? Classics Ultra Magnus originally sold in a Target-Exclusive 2-pack with Skywarp for $20- aka about $10 less than they should've been. I never heard too much demand for them, but I could be wrong.

Hah, it's kinda funny. No, there wasn't any demand for 'em at all at first. The term persona non grata comes to mind, in fact.

Then came the City Commander trailer, and all of a sudden people wanted the hell outta poor ol' Magnus that they'd protested about having to buy to get Skywarp. And lulz were had by...well, by jerks like me that love fanboy rage.

TFW will never replace this place, but it's fun to lurk over there sometimes, there's hilarity to be had.

You should come hang out with us in the comics section. Not too much drama there, and there are still a few good comics to read.

Okay, my bad. I hadn't even thought about City Commander. I can see how that might drive up the cost. And it is pretty frickin' funny.

I can't think of another figure set where the after-market value so outmatched the demand for the thing when it was released. Barely a whimper at the time, hit clearance within a few weeks, and now... well, you want to complete your American seekers, or put a body in that City Commander armor? You're going to be shelling out big time. Crazy-ass hobby.
I disappear.

It makes me glad I picked up the set when it was in stores then. I had no idea the price had gone up so much on the secondary market.
