February Hauls

Post by onslaught86 »

The Badass Workphone arrived. Woo! It's a contract mobile I got through work, which I plan to use in tandem with my current phone. The current one's a prepaid GSM, while the workphone's a contract CDMA. Both have advantages and disadvantages, hence keeping both. Model's a Nokia 6275i CDMA, which is a pretty localised variation if memory serves. Uses a stock body with a defunct SIM slot, lame. Battery life is short, the interface is annoying, and I like my regular SE V640i heaps more, but this is the stock phone my work hands out with contracts - knowing how it works will be incredibly helpful, and I'll upgrade to a better CDMA device when the current network wholesaler upgrades to GSM later this year.

In the meantime, yay, super-cheap mobile calling and a new handset to mess around with.

Picked up Baccano! DVD 1 the other day, and just watched it last night. Hot damn, it just came out in January and I already have a heavy contender for my Anime of the Year. It's really good.

Also snapped up TFU Inferno today, haven't opened. Saw Leo Prime and Overload on shelves at the same Target. Leo Prime's bio infuriates me, and Overload's is just *confusing*.

Damn, he's out in the wild. Will need to set some cash aside for to buy him.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Please explain. I assume Leo Prime references the comics. (I recall a "Pack" mention in the bio I saw.) What about Overload?

And, I made a 25A GI Joe Bayonet figure, based on the Plague regiment from the comics.

Get one with a decent camera so I can finally see your customs. They better live up to the hype, too.

What hype? What hype do you expect of an arthritic crazy-man with cataracts?

But, given that cameras are all but standard, I should be able to get something up, assuming I can figure out how to use it.

You talked about them! That implies hype in and of itself!

Well in Leo Prime's case, it infuriates me that they took a mold that looks nothing like LioConvoy (and isn't even technically a LION), recolored it in colors nothing like LioConvoy, gave him a name that sparked a fury of controversy the last time it was applied to "LioConvoy", and then went and wrote a bio saying that "This is LioConvoy who leads The Pack from the Beast Wars comics". Oh, and on top of that, the packaging and the tampo'd symbol on the TOY ITSELF can't seem to decide if he's a Maximal or an Autobot. ARGH!!

With Overload it's, like I said, confusing. See, he's labeled as "Cybertron Series", but...Overload was never IN Cybertron, and he's not even colored remotely like the Armada version (He looks more like a pal of Movie Air Raid). The bio positions him as a mysteeeeerious character of the decidedly fanmade variety, and really gives no indication of what he's DOING in whatever universe he's supposed to be in, putting his inclusion in the 'Cybertron Series' even more into question.

I am content to assume Overload lives in the AEC timeline. Maybe he is from the war-planet, or is simply another Autobot artillery trooper? The fan-style profile is a problem though.

I might get Leo Prime, just for the heck of it though. The sigils can be reconciled as saying Maximals are a sub-regiment of Autobots.
