The preview is too short to get a feel for the writing. But, recent contversies aside, I did like Scott's writing in "Aligned".
The art is....ugh. As odd as this is going to sound, I do not need TFs to look that much like faux-manga. And, the more I see Windblade, the less I like the over-all design.
Gonna grab the first issue.

Re: Windblade preview up at newsarama
The art is indeed ugh. To quote Captain Picard, WTF is that shit? And I've not liked Windblade's design at all yet, especially that kabuki face, that is like nails on a chalkboard for me. When it showed up in Dark Cybertron it was an eyeroll, as it kept going it was a distraction that needs to be explained.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Yeah, not liking the look of the art or the facial decoration. I'm not sure whether I feel like giving this series a chance or not, honestly.
Re: Windblade preview up at newsarama
I ordered the first issue. But, between the art and the back-write that we know is coming, I am not expecting to stick with it.

Well I'll be the voice of dissent. I really like the art. At least in the most recent previews we've seen.

Don't worry, I'm with you, I think the art looks slick. I actually hadn't been crazy about Windblade's design all the previous times we'd seen it, but seeing it rendered like this makes it work.Mako Crab wrote:Well I'll be the voice of dissent. Can't make out anything about the story from what we have, looks like it's gonna be the same deal as the Drift mini-series from a while back, ie "Why this super-special character is so super-special". On the other hand, it's being written by someone who isn't Barber or Roberts, so that's a plus!

Hearing some good reaction to it on TFW and elsewhere. Everywhere in town was sold out, so I had to special order it. Meantime, I picked up vol. 4 of MTMTE, so that should hold me over until next Wednesday when my copy comes in.
