MP-22 Ultra Magnus

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!

MP-22 Ultra Magnus

Post by Sparky Prime »

BBTS has revealed a pre-order for "MP-22 Masterpiece Ultra Magnus with Trailer – ‘Perfect Edition’". From the description, it'll be based on the MP-10 version of Optimus and will come with a trailer that transforms into his armor.

I saw this news hours ago elsewhere. This is AWESOME news,I've been waiting for this for 2+years,I was starting to think the idea got axed. Hopefully the car carrier trailer forms a super poseable robot mode. I just don't want to see the brick-former type thing for MP-22 that was done for DOTM Ultimate sized Optimus Prime.

In 2011,A Takara TF designer posted this pic of a MP Ultra Magnus with trailer armor attached in robot mode. Many didn't like that the shoulders joints just went up/down. I also think the armor pieces need to be made better. http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-new ... ed-178520/

I'll need to see this in person before I can commit any thought to buying it. Should it be big like the original toy, or merely bigger than Prime the way the comics and cartoon had him?

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

I'm interested to the extent of seeing it, and if its not ungodly huge I might get it...but we'll see. Ideally, he'd be no bigger than a G1 Jetfiere or Magnus, but...

I think it's pretty clear that it's going to be a white MP 10 with the trailer turning into the "Magnus" armor so that should give us some idea of how big it'll be in robot mode. In other words, bigger than Prime, but not THAT much bigger.

If the Takara designers use the test shot from 2011,http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-new ... ed-178520/ Then with the Trailer armor on in Super bot mode,MP UM will gain 3 inches,Which would be in perfect scale.

My money is on Takara also doing Diaclone powered convoy & maybe the Shinning translucent Yellow Ultra Magnus.

Currently,I'm debatting if I should buy the Takara version in 2014 or wait for the Hasbro USA version that will be more than half price. Hasbro has a 50/50 ratio of either ruining (Hasbro MP Rodimus with no trailer & ugly color scheme,Hasbro's MP Grimlocks filed down beast teeth,13 inch MP Optimus with no glossy paint,etc...) MP TF's or making them somewhat decent---> So with this in mind I might just get the Takara version.

The other thing that makes me want to buy the Takara version,is how it is so easy to pre-order/order them on-line. Verses the Hasbro MP TF'S that are extremely hard to find in TRU stores/site.

I'm setting my expectations really low for this MP 22 like I do the micheal bay TF movies. This way I won't get overly disappointed.

Takara has a uphill battle trying to create a decent MP 22 toy. I fully expect the trailer/armor to be hollow & light. As I seriously doubt Takara is going to be using super strong thick plastic like Takara/Hasbro used for the Micron dentsu/Armada toys.

Personally MP-22 makes no sense,As the smaller robot is already 9.5 inches tall. I'm speculating appying this trailer armor on the robot mode is going to prevent/take way poseabilty from the smaller robot.

Honestly i'm just wondering where the 9.5 inch smaller robots arms are going to go/hide when all this trailer armor get applied. from the MP 22 Silhouette,It appears the trailer/armor provides newer biger arms like the 1986 super robot for ultra Magnus's toy provided.

I just don't see myself getting overly excited/anxious & needing to get the TaKara MP 22 & spending $279. I'd rather show some patience by waiting for the Hasbro USA MP Ultra Magnus toy, that will cost under $120.

A prototype of Ultra Magnus has finally been revealed by the Japanese magazine Figure King. Although they aren't the greatest of images. Some details shown is that up to 4 of the Masterpiece Autobot Cars can fit in the trailer, Ultra Magnus has a Matrix chamber as shown in TFTM (in his armor), and his jaw is articulated so he can open his mouth.

Not a fan of the face, but given how blurry the image is hopefully that's just because it's hard to make out. Very nice updates to the Magnus armor, looks like it gives it great articulation and detail in robot mode, as we've come to expect from the Masterpiece figures. Can't wait for some clearer pictures to get a better look at this figure. Edit: They added a somewhat better image. It does look much better without it being so blurry. Very cool looking figure.

Looks like he might have two heads.

I'll wait for the Hasbro release. Or the inevitable Powered Convoy repaint!
