MP Acid Storm and Soundwave US picutres
Check 'em out here:
http://www.tfviews.com/news/toysandcollectibles/1594
Thanks to Hasbro for sending these images along, the first TF news I've felt compelled to carry in half a year. I put the pics up in a large format so make sure to click the mid-sized pics to get the large-sized images.
I was surprised to see digital camo on Acid Storm, it's an interesting choice to make a more realistic interpretation for the green machine. However, the military is actually doing away with digital camo this year, so it's also not the best timing. I think Epitsone mentioned on the callsign under the canopy is an urban-style artist from Providence, RI, which may explain the tie to Hasbro (also in his blog he has some tag art of the Hasbro logo), and he also has some non-urban-style deco images of Transformers characters as well: http://www.etipsone.blogspot.com/
Soundwave's US paint job looks to have REALLY strong eyes, hypnotizingly so both in paint and sculpt. Frenzy is blue and Rumble is red according to the Hasbro image names. Ravage's nose wasn't transformed.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Soundwave looks amazing. Really glad that Hasbro decided to release him with 5 of his cassettes. And nice touch giving him his yellow visor. Can't wait for them to release this.
I'm surprised Hasbro is releasing an MP Acid Storm. Really like that they used the remold that they had used for MP Thundercracker rather than the first MP Starscream mold. It's a very nice looking figure. But being a character based on a generic recolored Seeker from the G1 cartoon, don't really see the need for Acid Storm to be a MP...

I hear ya, I think they're just stretching for time before they hit another Starscream release in this new tooling. I don't see them doing the coneheads to stretch for that time, unfortunately. I am surprised TRU is willing to take Acid Storm with TC still in stock at all my local stores, TC is way more likely to sell than Acid Storm, so I hope they recognize those limitations and do a very small run on AS.Sparky Prime wrote:I'm surprised Hasbro is releasing an MP Acid Storm. I'm actually really excited for the MP Acid Storm, but yeah, that is a weird-ass choice for an MP. Still, I feel like I almost have to get one.
As for Soundwave, wow. That thing looks friggin outstanding. So does his gang.

I can't help wondering if they'll follow up with Sunstorm.

Re: MP Acid Storm and Soundwave US picutres
I'm definately buying The Hasbro MP TRU Soundwave with those 5 MP Cassettes. my guess this will cost around $79.99 when it first get released. Then in typical TRU fashion, the price will go up with various re-stocks.
Wow,I'm really impressed with the data detail color scheme Hasbro gave MP Acid storm. I love weathering, rust, battle damage effects in Transformers toys. not overly impressed enough to buy it.
I would of preferred Takara/Hasbro remolded the wings & robot head, then given us a few MP Cone head seekers.
My favorite soundwave cassette is Ratbat, due to him getting a excellent character persona in the Marvel TF G-1 comics. I'm hoping at some point Takara releases a MP Cassette for Ratbat.

Yeah, I'd happily buy a five-pack of extra MP Sound wave tape guys. I'm not counting on it, but I'd buy the hell our of it. How cool would Masterpiece Squawkbox be?
Again, not counting on it, but hell, if Acid Storm can get a Masterpiece figure, anything's possible.

I want the cassettes, but not Soundwave, for some reason. (Probably cost, space and scale.) I'm sad that I won't be able to buy them separately for a price that won't kill me, especially since they fit in G1 Soundwave.

Re: MP Acid Storm and Soundwave US picutres
Thanks JT, these are nice pics, especially given that some of the ones that other sites put up apparently suffered from some color-warping. Score one for TFViews!
Soundwave looks snazzy as ever, though getting a good look at him here I'm disappointed in his cartoon-based headsculpt (I greatly prefer the toy's strong, angular, Decepticon-symbol look), though the yellow eyes mitigate that somewhat. Otherwise looks like a fantastic toy and I'll happily buy one if I have the cash and ever, uh, find one.
Acid Storm now wins the award for 'Most Insane Character To Receive a Masterpiece Figure' and pretty much makes him a lock for this years 'Best Esoteric Character' nod in our Year in Review. Looks cool, and I'm far less terrified of this version of the Masterpiece Seeker mold than I am of the initial version (and was, in fact, under the impression that they were two totally different molds until not too long ago), though I had passed on Thundercracker. I *might* get this version if I see it, but if I'm going to get any version of this mold I'd prefer it to be Sunstorm, though the Takara one goes for more money than I'd care to spend. Maybe if this works out and Hasbro brings out there own Masterpiece Sunstorm, but I dunno, they seem to be oddly averse to the big orange AntiChrist these days (still no Classics version, for whatever reason).
EDIT: Of course, if this alternatively somehow leads to an MP ActionMaster Thundercracker, I will buy the hell out of that.
