AAAAH! TF:FOC Shockwave looks so good!!!

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

AAAAH! TF:FOC Shockwave looks so good!!!

GOD DAMN SHIT ASS THAT IS AWESOME! Prime is kinda tubby but looks sharp, Jazz looks ok but kinda unspecial in that "we've seen a lot of TFs transform this way" way, Bruticus still looks like a work in progress, but man does Shockwave look amazing. He looks so good that I'm going to forgive the legoformed weapon as the center of the vehicle, and the dubious card design for this year. But Shockwave, YOWZA!

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

I understand this is a video game tie-in and therefore he "has to" be a vehicle, but seeing it I can't help wonder why Habsor hardly ever makes roleplay altmodes anymore. JT's sig excused.

It does look lovely, but would be even lovier if it was a "space gun"!

Toy guns are getting harder and harder to sell in the States. Point of reference: That Classics Megatron that came out just 5-6 years ago? He'd be illegal now.

Yeah, Shockwave looks pretty sweet, and I'm ecstatic that we're *finally* getting a new Shockwave after all this time. My Classics 'Cons have been missing him (I'm apparently one of the few people who does not believe Energon Shockblast is a viable replacement).

Bruticus is looking better, mold-wise, though it's kind of a step forward and a step back since they aren't using the finished colors on this display model. Still, I'm continually excited for that one. Prime looks kind of rough and overly blocky, but he'd have trouble living up to WfC Prime in my eyes, that thing was one of my favorite toys of its year. Jazz looks needlessly tiny, but could still be cool (oh who am I kidding? No door wings = Day One Purchase).

Good thing these all look pretty sharp, since from what I've seen in other threads, the Prime line is looking a bit rough...

WFC Prime looks better than FoC Prime does. It's just too blocky of a design for my taste.

Jazz is decent but something looks off about his face to me.

Bruticus... Very much still a work in progress. But it looks cool with where it's at.

Shockwave is definitely the gem* of the group. It's spot on!

Edit: Spelling check FTL.

Jazz has shitty fake wheels. Pass.

That isn't accurate, the regulations for imitation firearms haven't changed in the past 24 years, the only requirement is a blaze-orange plug in the barrel recessed no more than half a centimeter from the end. The only thing that's changed is Hasbro's desire not to get sued.

Hasbro doesn't feel the current casual consumer market is interested in mass-shifting character and non-exciting alt modes. I dunno if they're wrong, the Real Gear did ok but not spectacular business, my sig not withstanding. I think part of the problem is that the modern TF team doesn't really have a feeling for the idea, they're not G1ers.

I agree with most of that, except I didn't love the WFC Prime figure that much, it's kinda small and out of proportions, and Jazz I'm on the fence on due to the weird face. I definitely agree about Bruticus and TF:Prime though.

Be fair, the fake wheels are in his feet.

Like I said, I'm one of the few people who doesn't think he's a viable replacement, and I'm willing to admit that I may simply be wrong about it, but it's still the way I feel.

There's a couple reasons. He's got too much green on him, and his gun-arm is WAY too freaking huge (To me, Shockwave has a full left arm with a gun at the end of that). All this goes together into the other problem: As the lone fan of 'Energon', I know and love that design way too well as Shockblast, who's a significantly different character from Shockwave. I'd never be able to consider Shockblast a stand-in for G1 Shockwave.

I still really like the toy though. Just not as Shockwave.

...How does that make it any better?

Jazz has six wheels in his robot mode. The vehicle he turns into has four. That's a goddamned problem with the design of the toy.

I could accept shit like this when it was Bayformers, or Animated. Those were mostly handled by third parties who had their own ideas about Transformers. The games and now Prime, though? This is fucking bullshit. Hasbro needs to put their foot down and say, "No, we're designing the toys first and then YOU make the shit look like THAT."

Because it's bullshit that I have to deal with crap like fake wheels or fake Prime chest windows or crap like that. I'm done! This is the last straw. I will not buy any toy that does that anymore. I have too little money and there's too many damn toys coming out, TF or otherwise, for me to be dealing with shitty toys that fake transformations.

There's no reason Jazz should have those fake feetwheels! None! At all! If he has wheels on his arms and in his chest, then WHY DOES HE HAVE THEM IN HIS FEET? Either engineer the damn thing the right way, or *don't put the fake wheels there.* There's no reason for them to be there! Game accuracy? Fuck that! I don't care if it's accurate to the game. I care about it being a 'good toy.'

Maybe I'm getting unreasonably angry about this but I dunno, I'm just...tired of this. I don't mind shitty transformations or robot modes or anything like that. I bought Armada and Energon toys for 'years.' But none of them had 'fake windows.' None of them had 'fake wheelfeet.'

I'm with O6. Trying to give the *illusion* of transformation in a toy whose entire point is transformation is idiocy of the highest degree. Two convincing altmodes is generally all I ask for in a TF toy, and this Jazz- and many other recent TFs- just don't do it for me.

I mean... *fake kibble*, really?
