Oh come on, you KNOW all that's like anathema to what I like about TF. Every word you typed, you must've thought, "This sounds JUST like Gomess' type of TF story". =p Tell me if it gets good, but bear in mind I STILL haven't read Wreckers.

My summary of HoD is accurate. And, if it gets good, I will post it here.

That said, you *really* need to read "Last Stand of the Wreckers". Do not even read it as a Transfan. Read it as somebody who likes good comics.

Dom
-seriously, read "Last Stand of the Wreckers".

Actually, now that I think about it, what you are really saying is "Hey, look, IDW is taking TF seriously as a comic and not just treating it like a niche fandom with no draw!" That more than anything would be something to be excited about since it means that the industry is taking it seriously. But other than that, I could give a toss about Abnett, Furman, Millar, Bendis, or Miller. Although could you imagine Frank Miller writing Transformers? Wait, are we sure he didn't write LSoTW?

Pretty sure, yeah. You can tell because "Last Stand" is pretty good.

Nah, "Wreckers" is actually good. Do not be fooled by how many of the fanboys like it. Roche and Roberts actually can write.

Indeed. The characters actually have personalities for once! And this sounds shallow, but 'huge amounts of Euro G1 guys!' I mean, besides Impactor. He's there, but guys like Pyro and Ironfist are more important.

And, "Last Stand of the Wreckers" is more than just "Transformers guys doing stuff and being awesome". The whiny "fan identification" character die hilariously, and (more importantly) in ways that are consistent wth the high concept of the series.

Dom
-actually wants good toys of those characters.

Wreckers proves that you don't have to stick with the 84-86 cast to tell a good Generation One story. And in fact, there's more room to work when some of the obscure characters are brought in and used to tell the story, because they aren't set in stone and inviolable. As much as it fit the storyline, I hated to see some of those guys killed off, because I"d like to have learned more about them. I can't always say that about characters in a Transformers comic.

I think we saw all we needed to of the new guys though. They were, to put it blunty, twerps. They were twists on the old "fan identification" template, which is why it was such a joy (at least for me) to see them die. What good purpose would there have been in keeping them alive?
