Heart of Darkness discussion

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

This is out already?

Keep me up on it. Lemme know if the trade's worth it. Have to say I'm interested if only for Galvatron and where they're going to go with it.

I didn't make it to the comic shop today, but I'm hoping to do so tomorrow. I'm interested to see where they go with this.

I haven't been since issue 17 hit. Come to think of it, I have the prequel series to catch up on as well. I'm also interested to see what they do with Galvy. Maybe we'll see a Galvatron/Megatron fight. Y'know since when last seen both of them were on Earth.

Let me just say that I have no trouble believing that Kup could survive the entire Dead Universe by himself. He's that bad ass.

"You know, this reminds me of the time I was on the zombie robot planet Delta Nine!"

"Oh yeah? How'd you get out?"

"I don't remember. There were an awful lot of zombie robot casualties."

Heart of Darkness #1:
Abnett uses Furman-style writing, (complete with Furmanisms), parts of this issue. But, unless I am misreading it, he is doing this stylistically for some characters, though not others. The first issue is largely set-up, with Galvatron noticing the problem for the series and gathing a team to stop it. More than a few of the pages are devoted to recapping events from before AHM, likely on the assumption that "Infestation" lured in new readers. (This is not an unreasonable assumption for Abnett to make.) "Infestation" is either being side-stepped or will be covered in the next issue. Design note: Galvatron turns into a tank, but does not look like the TFU08 toy.

Grade: C All things considered, this is the first time that an A-lister has written a "Transformers" comic. So, it is worth picking up for that.
