I had no idea Gobots had organic brains. That's neat.

I assume that they'd reproduce sexually before the "change." I assume that after the change they have no means of reproducing, unless some of their species remained organic?

The whole reason the Gobots have mechanical bodies now is because there was some catastrophe that nearly destroyed their entire planet. Their atmosphere and eco-system were pretty much totally destroyed. They had to swap their brains into mechanical bodies to survive. Now, it'd be an interesting idea if they had a percentage of their population that was still organic in order to continue reproducing. Given the condition of their planet, they'd have to stay beneath the surface all the time.
Of course, by the time the Gobots meet their human friends on Earth and bring them back to Gobotron to give them a tour, the humans seem to have no problem breathing the air. The planet seems pretty stable by that point- just completely covered in metal. But even at that point in their planets' recovery, we never see any organic Gobots aside from the Master Renegade and the Last Engineer.
Just remembered! That tiny orb inbetween the two giant hemispheres of Gobotron- yeah, that little orb is their original planet. It's called "old Gobotron." I think the Gobots went more than a little overboard on the reconstruction efforts. That'd be like humans building a giant techno-sphere the size of Saturn around Earth.

In the original Machine Robo storyline given on the boxes (prepare for Japanese Lessons With Gomess), the aliens-that-became-the-Gobots (for want of a better expression) had to leave their planet because their entire solar system (the "Romulus" system!) was "collapsing" (Big Crunch?). Those that reached Earth "evolved" (it actually puts it that way) into the mechanical Gobots, while those left behind were trapped in the "Casmozone" (for Gobots fans, Vamp's original Japanese name was Casmodon) and became the more organic "Devil Invaders"; the original Japanese name for those evil monster Gobots like Vamp, Pincher and Scorp.

Soooo there is actually a little precedent for Gobots who retain more of their organic parts. In a weird kinda way.

That's neat. In following Mako's statement that organic Gobots would have to live beneath the surface, I'm now picturing an odd combination between Gobots and Gurren Lagann, where squishy aliens live underground in honey-combed colonies while giant robots beat each other up on the surface.

I'd love to do a bit of Machine Robo / Gobots comicking based on these ideas, but Dom won't let me post fanfic on here.

One thing I'd do is refer to the characters by their old Machine Robo serial numbers (so Cy-Kill would be MR-01), rather than their doofy Gobots names... at first. Because "Hans Cuff" is too hilarious to ignore.

Well at least we can agree that it sucks. How about this- in my own personal canon the Botcon shit doesn't count for anything.

Killing off Go-Bots in Easter Eggs is one of my least favourite cliches in Transfiction.

Yeah. I read that fan reaction to Cy-kill and Scooter getting killed (again) in Transcendent 5 actually prompted Pete Sinclair to declare that there would be no more pointless killing of Gobots for humor in the FunPub stuff. Glad they put a stop to it. It was so stupid. They're trying so hard to pander to what the fandom wants, that they just fail.

Unfortunately, the only way we are likely to be getting new "Go-Bot" content is through the fan club. So, it really does not matter if/how they handle it, because it will probably be stupid.
