Why settle for a "good" Thundercracker when they could make an "Amazing" Thundercracker?
Shockwave wrote:Could you imagine a "ghost" version in those colors? That would be fantastic!
Oh man oh man oh man. I would flip out for that.

I am, of course, completely in favor of AM Cracker in general. It is one of the more retarded color schemes ever to happen, but it's so damn eye-catching and alluring in it's own way.

Of course, thanks to Dom, I'm lucky enough to have this treasure in my collection.. http://twitpic.com/23kj70 . Definitely one of my favorite toys.

In the same breath, FP has also expressed that G2 Ramjet will almost certainly be the last time they use the Classics Seeker mold.

I'm not putting all hopes of getting this figure on them.

(And what's with this fear that anyone would do this, and it be used as some excuse not to do a "regular" Thundercracker? I simply don't understand how that is something people actually think might happen.)

Fear? In a way, I'm hoping for it. That would be the funniest thing Hasbro's ever done.

Well, that was less directed to you, and more a convenient way of encapsulating the previous comment, as well. As much as possible, I'm just trying not to have this become an AMTC vs "x other figure" fight.

Hasbro commonly uses the "we do not want to make too many of the same character" and/or "too many recolors are bad" arguments to justify not making figures that people clearly want that they (for some reason or another) do not make.

In this scenario, I can see Hasbro actually thinking AMTC is a good idea, and then not making a TC with legitimate colors on the basis that it would be a same character recolor. (I really do have this little faith in Hasbro's decision making, based purely on previous decisions they have made.)

So, you do also like flaming bags of poop? I can make that happen to.

-hehehehehehe, poop.

What Dom said. I will never be convinced that we didn't get Acid Storm instead of Thundercracker. I really just feel that if they were going to use that mold in that wave of toys it should have been regular ol' Thundy. But no, instead we got Acid Storm and... yet... another... Starscream?? WTF!? And then the 'Bro goes and says that those uses of the mold are why we don't have Thundy because they don't want too many repaints of the same toy on shelves at the same time. They have a history of this, that's where the fear comes from. It has happened and is likely to happen again.

But on the plus side, we did get Acid Storm out of it.

And also, how much more awesome is it gonna be when Thundercracker does finally show up? All the anticipation will make it so much better!

Of course, easy for me to say. I got Ramjet, Skywarp, and Acid Storm right off the bat, and those are my three favorites.

That only applies to retail (and, to Shockwave, note that the Acid Storm/Starscream examples mentioned were both retail). It wouldn't stop Hasbro from doing whatever they wanted to if, say, FP made the same character in a different scheme.

(Not that I'm limiting this to FP)

That's what Dom and I are saying, we wouldn't put it past Hasbro to release AMTC at retail and then turn around and tell us that's why we don't have the regular version since they essentially did that with Starscream and Acid Storm. Use of the mold is why FP didn't do it this year so Hasbro's use of the mold would prevent FP from doing it. It would not, however, prevent Takara from doing it.

Hasbro's use of the mold would (and, yes, did) prevent someone else from using it at the same time, yes. But my point is, there's no reason to assume that any non-retail entity doing AMTC (because, face it, Hasbro isn't going to do this for retail. I've already said why they'd be willing to do an Acid Storm. But AMTC is just too "out there" bizarre for retail these days.) will prevent a "regular" Thundercracker.

If "regular" Thundercracker doesn't ever happen, there's no sense in blaming AMTC (if AMTC actually happens at all, of course).
