I have him bent at the knees and at the hips, even with his torso vertical his head looks a little higher. IMO, with the knees bent it looks like a robot leaning against a similarly-colored chair since they don't share the same type of details, if he could stand on his own I'd just pull the dozer blade off (it does so on its own occasionally). In fact, I just did this, he looks exactly the same except no blade, a regular robot, small for a deluxe, large for a scout, and now he's on his back because he doesn't have feet. The torso keeps dislodging because the design doesn't lock down well and has too many movable parts.BWprowl wrote:Well how are you posing his front legs? If you've got them going straight, more like 'regular' legs, then yeah the look isn't really going to come out (and you'll have that problem you mentioned with his head pointing up). But bend them at the knees, and he levels out. The upper torso winds up positioned more in the center for a bit of centaur feel, and the whole look works better.
Spider, Centaur? I just don't see it. I kinda see the robot spider thing, but only in a limited fashion. I guess you could have Centaur if you straightened the blade halves back to jackhammer pose, but there's no real connective body between the blade and the real robot, it's still just a robot with too much back kibble being made into legs.
The springs in the knees at least allow some bending, but the hips being linked sucks for me, and the lack of feet means he's forced to lean against that yellow lawnchair. Now, after a bit more fiddle time, I'll concede that this toy does have problems. No elbows still sucks, and the elbow hinges are a bit loose and limited. Also, front legs are limited by the springs in their knee hinges. But frankly, the look and design of the figure appeals to me so much, that I can forgive this. If they make a repaint, I'll probably buy that one too, since it won't be all yellow, which is another admitted problem.

I just don't get it, I can see having a fascination with it because it's so bizarre and left-field and problematic, but loving it? Different strokes for different folks. So, would you recommend it to a general collector audience?I guess this is one of those inexplicable favorites, where I know the toy has tons of issues, but I love it anyway. In that case, it requires the disclaimer that your mileage may differ significantly.
