How is that five-pack, Dom? I don't actually own any of the characters in it thus far (except Snake Eyes) and it's on my Amazon wishlist right now for my birthday in two months, but is it worth it?

EDIT: Forgot to clarify I meant the Joe five-pack.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Today I received a copy of US G1 #1. With the screwy Prime art, and in nice condition. For seven dollars! I am a happy camper.

Now to find #5. And Man of Iron. And maybe #3 with the Megs and Spidey cover, I dunno.

O6, the 5 pack is totally worth it. Remember, the one I just listed is my second go at it.

The SE is a fantastic figure. The Flint is not as good as the '85 figure, (owing to the softer detailing on the face), but is still good. The Lady Jaye is a bit more cartoon model accurate. Shipwreck is an improvement over the '07 figure, if only for the accessories. (The parrot is a step down though.) The General Hawk is passable, and a minor part of the set's cost.

Sweet, then. I do suppose I'll leave it on my list. The main reason I was interested in it in the first place is the sheer fact that I don't own any of those characters, period, except SE, and to hear that they're all improvements (as they looked to be) is good news. It seems like Hasbro finally figured out the 25th line formula...just in time for it to end and the movie to come along. Thank God that it looks like we're getting lots of offscreen two-packs and crap like we did with TF. And it looks like more Resolute figures are coming--much as I didn't like the series itself, the character designs were pretty cool.

Atomic Robo And The Shadow From Beyond TIme #1 was supposed to come in today, but it...didn't. I'm gonna hit the comic shop on Saturday for Free Comic Book Day and ask again by then.

Hawk is arguably a step down. Same vague facial detailing, and a less interesting paint-job. (His name is not printed on his jacket, as it is on the single-carded figure.) But. for ~$25 bucks, I only need 3 of the figures to be good, and this has 4 ranging from good to excellent. (You have the best of the bunch, for that that is worth.)

Dom
-likes the Timber figure as well.

Hooray, box day!

- Robotmasters Starscream. Always meant to get one (Hell, I bought one as a present for someone), but never did - until now. Heh. This is the figure that helped spawn Classics as a line, and honestly, ClaScream is not that much better. RMScream lacks knees, and has restricted shoulder and hip articulation, as well as no translucent plastic. But he's a closer merge of the G1 toy and show model, less 'modern toy' than ClaScream is. No issues with the gun clearances, and his head is ball jointed. The shade of blue is nice and cartoony, especially in vehicle mode. Worth owning in addition to ClaScream, and for different reasons. Now to track down the Skywarp/Thundercracker set without paying a ton for it.

- Target Universe V1 Build King Repaint Devastator. WORLDS OF AWESOME. Since ROTF is clearly not going to deliver on the gestalt front, I'm turning to past lines to fill the gap. And number one on the list of Gestalts I Wish I Owned was the Build King repaint in traditional Devastator colours from the ass-end of Universe. Remember the one? The one that took For Ever to come out, because they couldn't find a home for it? That. It is just as deliciously Devastatory as it looks, and I do believe it beats out Classics Devastator as the best stand-in for a new-mould Dev update. No translucent utensil hands is a plus, hey!

Scratch two from the long-term wantlist, hells yeah.

*I* got Atomic Robot 3:1 today. *rubs it in O6's face*

Anyway, also picked up anime:

Baccano! Vol. 3- Hey, it's out early even! Can't believe I'm not gonna have seen the end of this by the time Fanime rolls around though, bleh.
Doujin Work Anime + Manga Collector's pack- The first DVD and manga volume of a cute-looking series bundled together for a mere $16? Sure, why not. Of course, I'm about four pages into the manga and it's already *totally* worth it. Funny stuff.

I've got this set myself, and it always seemed to me that recoloring the RID Build Team into Devastator was a no-brainer, so I'm glad they finally did. Scavenger has more purple than I like, but otherwise this is a really good set, well worth owning. Nice haul.

Eh. I'm not worried. I am a patient man. If the store never gets it in, then fuck those guys, I'll just wait for the trade again.

Like hell you are, I'm the one who's patient enough to wait five years for toys. :P
