Spoiler
Riri has returned to MIT following the events of Black Panther 2, and resumed her work on her own Iron Man style suit. However, she's run out of money to build the armor and has been selling projects to students at other schools to fund it, resulting in her being expelled. To be honest, I don't understand why she resorts to plagiarism, when some of these little projects she could probably legitimately sell for millions. I could see maybe her being a weary of selling anything she developed after the CIA stole her Vibranium detector, but if she's willing to sell her technology to students with no abandon... I dunno, I just think Riri's reasoning for this is something they needed to explain.
Riri is escorted to the lab to collect her things, where it turns out the armor is apparently fully built already, and she's able to fly back to mothers home in Chicago. However, she's using the MIT AI program to operate it, so when they cut off her access, it causes the suit to malfunction and falls apart upon crashing. And this was another problem I had with this episode. First off, I don't believe Riri would fail to anticipate her access to the MIT network being cut off. And secondly, I think the armor should have still been visibly a work in progress, the completed armor shouldn't have gone to pieces just because of a rough landing. I also have to wonder why there is no fervor over her developing this technology, like we saw in Iron Man 2. She's one of the first in the MCU to successfully build such armor technology, so why doesn't it seem like anyone is interested in armor tech anymore?
At home, things aren't so great between Riri and... well everyone she knows, stemming from the murder of her father and best friend. She's recruited by The Hood's gang, to replace their current IT person that keeps failing at his job, and needs to quickly get the armor up and running again. Mapping her brain to create a new AI program, it manifests as her deceased best friend... I guess this would be a bit of a nitpick on my part, but how is a laptop able to scan Riri's brain to generate an AI program? I mean, I could see Riri being able to figure out how to make this AI program, but... I think she'd need something a bit more powerful than a laptop, even if the MCU has more advanced technology available to civilians at this point.
