Are the repaints lacking?

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

No, I'm fine with a Deluxe Galvatron - after all, I have the Anime flavour of G1 Galvy*. I'm not fine with him being a complete and utter piece of crap. The grey, the orange, the horrible gaps, the poor tank mode, the cop-out missile gimmick and terrible headsculpt.. I mean, I hear bad things about OcTankor, but at least he doesn't look 'that' bad. And I liked Titanium! Sale purchase only.

* OOOH, must bring that to town! I less-than-three G1 Galvatron.

Blaster does look awesome there, but I don't like the mould enough to justify it. It's really weird, there's a lot of TFs now that I just plain don't ever feel like fiddling with.

Some of the repaints don't interest me. Don't care about Blaster or Quickmix for example. I do like the looks of Dirge and Acid Storm, so I suppose I'll have to go on a case by case basis. The more expensive the repaint, the less interested I generally am. If I didn't like the original figure, I likely won't like the repaint either.

Hrm, he wasn't looking that bad to me; I was actually quite looking forward to him (of course, that might just be because his wave-mate is Acid Storm, so y'know...). Now, I doubt I've been scrutinizing him as closely as you have, '86, so I'll just have to give him a more discerning glance before I just buy him on-sight. Really, I just want an appropriate foe for EnerRodimus, who's serving as my Classics Rodimus Prime. Yeah, I liked *that* toy, which should say enough about my taste in toys to explain why I'm not bothered by Classics Galvy.

Blaster just needs eyes painted underneath to clench it. But a good enough feature to make me want him now. Dammit, and the ultras were just spotted as well.

Do think Blaster's vehicle mode needs more red, and he should've had grey instead of black, but hey, he works. Will finally come down to seeing him in person, mind, but at this stage I think I've been swayed.

Well, Blaster's vehicle mode colors are essentially a byproduct of almost directly overlaying his original toy's robot mode color scheme onto CyberSoundwave. Seriously: The red arms, the yellow chest, the grey legs... then they just let the mold sprues do the rest of the work and Tah-Dah! He's hardly Blaster colors at all in vehicle mode! Which is okay I guess, because the vehicle mode doesn't really strike me as too Blaster-appropriate anyhow.

One thing I feel compelled to kvetch about: Blockrock seriously needs some paint apps on his head. Might do the eyes myself, it bugs me quite a bit.

Blockrock needs to decide who the hell he's supposed to be.

Also, I'm disappointed we never got a team that turned into additional bombs for Sounds.

Well, it says Blockrock in like, five different places on the packaging, and that's the name they copyrighted, so... Flashback must've been a working name that just slipped through onto the techspec.

On the one hand, it's a pity he's not colored black, since then they could've conceivably called him Blackrock, which is what I figger they were going for anyway. On the other hand then, I'm glad they went with red, so he's not just a clone of Laserbeak.

There was also that blue knock-off of Laser beak back in the 80s. Maybe that is the homage? Or, maybe not.
