Then they'll all do it and I'll sit back and reap the rewards, just like I do with every other website. Fwahaha!

The worst part is, even I can't tell if I'm serious or not.

In all seriousness, we are looking for help in the news section.

We know some forums are more formalized about this sort of thing. But, we are not like that here. So, if anybody wants to contribute to the news section, let us know.

JT wants this page to grow, but he cannot do it himself.

Hey, I submit stuff, occasionally. The problem is, the other news sites get ahold of stuff before us, so all we really do is link back to them anyway.

This isn't the thread to talk about our issues, but I will say that even secondhand news is interesting. We can link to others and give our site a voice still.

Anyway, Ben updated the page again, more news about having to sell stuff and looking for a new host, and apparently he's editing some of his older writings. Hopefully everything comes out well for ya Ben!

I am unsticking this thread as we are now in December, long past even the most recent "back by" date. Feel free to post any news and such in this forum.

Looking for feedback

Post by Bumbleyee »

Hi everybody,

It's been a very frustrating time for a variety of reasons. Most of them have to do with money and finding a way to get BWTF back up without breaking the bank, and unfortunately I've come to the (albeit temporary) conclusion that I simply cannot afford to pay the huge server fees that would be asked of me if I were to restore the site even at 85% of what it used to be all at once.

Meanwhile, I've fallen about 9 months behind on reviews, and that's really got the ol' site writing muscles twitching. I really want to get back out there and begin sharing my thoughts again on product.

So I ask you folks, who are among my more consistent and loyal readers - would it sit well with you if I restarted my site just reviewing current product and slowly reintegrating old material at a slow pace to help me keep an eye on server loads? I'd probably start off with a cheap, shared server plan before eventually upgrading to a larger scale one. I hope, if I build an audience, to get advertising that would eventually allow me to return BWTF to its former glory.

What say you, friends? I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

I'm in. Truthfully, once you read through the archives once, the only reason I'd ever go back was to see pics--and that was only with recent stuff, since most of the BW-era toys had crappy low-res tiny photos.

Oh, absolutely, Ben. The new reviews and material are obviously the biggest draw for your site. I always really appreciated being able to go back through the years of near-complete review archives when I was considering purchasing an older figure. But, being honest, I now have a good chunk of most older lines, so I do tend to refer to older reviews less and less. They're an excellent resource all the same. New reviews only to start off with would benefit more people, though, so that'd be fantastic methinks.

Aye! Aye! Aye! (Hey, G2 references are always good.)

So, I guess this means you will not be sharing your thoughts on "Shatered Glass" with me. ;)

Seriously Ben, this is a tough call. For the record, I used to use your page largely for the archived material. (Photo reference, that sort of thing.) But, I also know that new content gains readers. In the long terms, you definitely want to get the older material, (or some approximation of it), back up. But, in the short term, newer articles would probably build the immediate audience, (and by extension revenue), that you need.

From what I hear though, advertising is getting railed at this point, which means it might be better to take a long view.

If you like, post a poll about this. We can pin that as well.

Finances are tight all over. Nearly every sector in every state, in every country, is taking a hit. Right now, I am making more than I have at nearly any time in my life, and I am worried about a delayed pay-check due to the holiday. (I am actually skipping more toys for economic reasons now than I was as recently as 3 years ago, when I made considerarbly less.)

Just to clarify something: Ben is talking about something other than JT's project.

Ben, check your message box.
