- Universe Legends Animated Prowl, 'Bee, and Prime. 'Bee is average, Prowl is clever but flimsy, Prime is the best of the batch. Also breaks the running trend of Legends Primes being blah.

Picked up Animated Swoop at Wal-Mart today. The $7.77 sale is still in effect, far longer than I thought it would be. If only the next wave of Universe figures will make it out before Wal-Mart runs the price back up...

Eh, I dunno. Right before my last move, it stopped being able to access the internet. MSN still worked, strangely enough, but Firefox and IE both failed. This thing's old and screwy anyway, but it did only cost me ten bucks, so I got my money's worth out of it.

Alright! Not only did I finally manage to score Classics Sideswipe and Ironhide (got the last Ironhide Wal-Mart had, and decided to only get one 'Swipe for now, I'll get Spinout-to-be later), I also found/picked up Activators AniMegatron! Ironhide's a lot better than I was expecting, to torso connector piece doesn't come undone at all during transformation on mine (speaking of which, the transformation is a blast, crazy as it is). I really like the way the feet are done, results in nice poseability. The arms are a bit overarticulated, I feel, but otherwise good. Only other gripe is that I wish his waist locked into his upper body somehow, it moves out of place with annoying ease. He's still a really fun toy though. Sideswipe is positively gorgeous. It's a good enough mold (though those shoulder transformation joints are a bit more annoying in this orientation), and the lovely shade of candy-apple red he is really makes it shine (literally). Good paint apps too. As for Activator Megs, he's not quite as joyous as the other two Activators I have (Starscream and Bumblebee). He mainly suffers from having no weapons in robot mode- he lacks both swords and fusion cannon, which really blows, since the cannon doesn't do anything in vehicle mode, they could have just had it pop off and affix to his arm. Bleh. Vehicle mode's okay, about what to expect from an Activator, though the transformation isn't as smooth or elegant as the other two I have. He does look REALLY good in robot mode though, albeit with a slightly off face color. Pretty poseable too. At the very least, I like it because it's a nice-looking, fun-size version of a Megatron design I really dig. Might wanna check it out carefull for yourself if you run across it though, it's not going to please everyone.

GI Joe DvD pack 5, from a local scalper. This one is shaping up to be rare, and after facting in mail-order shipping, and BBTS mark-up, it became worth the scalper-price.

As for Ironhide, how is that toy? In-package, it does not really impress me.

I have Ironhide. Good transformation and very suitable bot mode for Ironhide... thick, heavy and broadly reminds me of the cartoon model. But I find the vehicle looks pretty rough with the blue paint on the windows, and especially the diagonal panel lines, which really make the vehicle look 'damaged' for lack of a better term. If not for the problems with the appearance of the SUV, this would be a very strong Transformer. As it is, it's still pretty decent.

There's a running change that will see the face painted silver instead of light blue, so it might be worth waiting for that change to make it to stores before buying Ironhide if the blue face is a problem.

Yeah, Ironhide is definitely not a toy to buy if you like looking at vehicle modes. Thankfully, I seem to specialize in the manner of transform-them-a-couple-times-then-leave-them-in-robot-mode-forever, so it doesn't bother me too much.

This is not by choice and I feel bad about it.

Besiding that, there's some guys claiming that the "damaged" look is "intentional" because this is Ironhide and he's such a rough-and-tumble character. I disagree because the cracks are 'symmetrical' and only there because of his transformation anyway.

I've been meaning to ask, can we get pics? I've been wanting to see this in action but nobody else seems to have done so.

He's ten times better if you give him the red scarf from the DTC Major Bludd from a few years ago. This means you can't put on his backpack (unless you mod the scarf) but it looks ten times better.
