Generations BW Megatron toy on it's way, pics in thread

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

Isn't this enough of a reason?

Check list below:
1- They both have a T-rex mode---Check
2- They both Have a Robot mode---Check
3- They are both high ranking Commanders, that often take on the leadership role when needed----Check
4- They both have anger management issues, that go extreme when their tempers boils over, primal rage---Check.
5- They both have big bulky designs in both modes---Check
6- Thru the course of their lives they both dis-agreed with optimus prime's agenda/vision----Check
7- The existing FOC Grimlock voyager mold isn't a exact homage update for 1985 Grimlock like the MP Grimlock toy was. this Foc Grimlock toy looks nothing like the 1985 Grimlock toy/media. So this mold can be used for any Transformer with a T-rex alt mode.--- Check.
8- Beastwars Megatron had a few Mechanical T-rex modes. The TM1 Megatron was stuff turned inside out,the TM2 Megatron was more mechanical in both modes. this FOC Grimlock toy has a mechanical robot & beast mode---check.

It's worth a serious mention that the Beastwars toy line & cartoon had different universe stories. The early 1996 Beastwars toy packaging had the Beastwars crew put into present day new york, with the G-1 Optimus & G-1 Megatron as the beastwars faction leaders.

The beastwars writers didn't use the full Transmetal 1 toy line story. Only in the TM1 toy line story did the beastwars crew have organic robot modes & robotic beast modes. In the Beastwars season 2 cartoon, the crew on both sides had robotic robot modes & robotic beast modes. There was never any mention nor reference to organic skin/fur on the season 2 TM1 robot modes. The TM1 cartoon characters never mentioned nor showed any organic hearts, veins, liver, brains, blood, bones, tongues, eye balls,etc....

the Beastwars season 1 crew didn't have real organics in there beast modes,it was described as Synthetic/fake in the toy line & cartoon story.

I can't imagine buying a G2-inspired Grimlock mold over a G1-inspired one, as it looks worse, whether or not it's repetitive.
Well that's just subjective, I think the royal blue of G2 Grimlock is rather classy and works well with the gold he already had. It's certainly not an eye-searing color like a lot of the other G2 schemes I can understand some people disliking, it's rather restrained.

I also think it's kinda interesting that looking too much like the grey version would be a reason to put forward for Hasbro to not do a blue repaint of Grimlock, when they just shipped the Soundwave mold in either dark blue or black together in the same case!

And yeah, it is a tricky area I find myself in, being turned off to some toys like this because they look 75% like something I already have. I still wind up with a bunch of Optimus Primes, regardless. >_>

The dark blue always reminded me of Barney the dinosaur.

And to back up O6, I like this and I don't feel lambasted at all.

1- To be fair the FOC Grimlock mold is also a generic T-rex that turns into a robot,Because it looks ZERO like the 1985 Grimlock toy/media.

2- I always hated those G-2 Colored Dinobots. those colors looked so bad on those molds.

3- The worse thing Hasbro can do is start applying those G-2 colors to newer G-1 homage Dinobots toys.

So you're saying that if Hasbro put out a G2 Grimlock, you'd yell and throw a fit like you accused us of doing? ;D

For what it's worth, I would absolutely get a FOC G2 Grimlock toy. Even on top of the normal Grimlock. Yes, really.

Then it could go next to G2 Bruticus.

Now you're getting it. Or the multitude of other G2-themed repaints I've accumulated over the last few years.

Incidentally, I've been thinking and if I can get a Hot Spot head and repaint it for Pyro, I won't have to sell him!

. Er, I did the opposite. Slapped Grimlock colors on a TM Megatron body (well, Armada Predacon, but y'know). Don't think I've seen that homage working the other way, but I could get behind it.

I can get behind this, too. Don't know if I'll buy it or not, but it's kind of clever. Now watch the whole thing turn out to be in T-Wrecks or Predacon colors or something.

I'm sure it almost goes without saying that I'd be fine with G2 repaints of Grimlock or anything, right?

If Hasbro does release a G-2 Grimlock using that FOC voyager Grimlock toy mold. Then I suspose i could create a decent homage 1989 Deathsauras toy. All I need is to swap parts around using the FOC G-1 Grimlock toy,The FOC G-2 Grimlock toy & use the robot head of FOC Voyager sized Blaster. If Hasbro releases a Twintwist recolor using that Twintwist toy mold, then I can use the blue twintwist robot head for my FOC Deathsauras custom toy.
