The reasoning, I think, is partially that anyone who gets actually elected into the Hall of Fame would give Hasbro a decent indication of toys that we're interested in. For example, Jazz was one of the potential nominees in 2010 and got an RTS toy later on!

Right now, the cop cars are making quite a showing, both Barricade and Prowl are faring well. I personally was considering Barricade as he's a striking visual movie character and damned near the only Decepticon who has any personality in the movieverse, but his lack of showing in the sequels made him not quite fit the bill for my voting criteria - it makes me look all GEEWON! but I'm not really that bad.

I went back to edit Blakarachnia into my list only to find out that you and Tiger had her on your list too. Very cool indeed!

Mako, as I mentioned in the voting thread itself just a moment ago, your edit adding Blackarachnia doesn't count since it's a ranked list of 5, and she's your #6.


That gives me a thought though, should we be doing a ranked list of 5, or should we take it to 10? A ranked list of 10 would add more points variety to the mix, but could lead to aberrant figures getting picked due to high volume low rank votes (which is fine, I guess, but doesn't seem exactly like the BEST one, just the best lowest common denominator one).

Shiiit, now I'm adding Tarantulas to my list just because of that. Ravage is off my list. Yeah, I like Tarantulas more than I like Blackarachnia or Rhinox, SORRY FOLKS!

If I had to pick someone from the movies, Barricade would definitely be it. Though his name isn't original, the alt-mode and character are. Among the Decepticons, I think he stands out the most.

Yeah, he stands out as "the one Decepticon who did something".

I always think of Tankor(r) first, but Jetstorm is a better Vehicon character.

Explain. Now. ROTF Bludgeon is a green tank that turns into an orange skeleton samurai robot with swords. What exactly is missing from the equation that would make it 'Bludgeon' for you?

Just a little surprised/mystified is all. JT, myself, and many others all gave Bludgeon rave reviews when he came out, so I'm wondering what was missing in your eyes.

Whoa whoa whoa, how is it NOT a good Bludgeon? And how is it not a good Megatron? He's got a gun mode, he's got a robot mode that - aside from the fug colors and the wings, which can be folded behind him - looks like the character, he's got his fusion cannon. What more do you want, his barrel becoming his cock?

Obsidian was better. But, none of the Vehicons are important enough characters to warrant inclusion this early, as much as I want good toys of those characters.

I understand that sentiment. It's why I tried to avoid lining my nominees with G1 characters. G1 already gets so much love. I would like to see Blackarachnia make it in at some point though.

That is why we have Bayformers. I could even get behind a UT character.

The toy looks too chunky, rather than fast. Think "RTS Jazz's head sculpt, but full body". It is technically sound. But, it looks wrong for the character.

My problem with 2006 Megatron is the wings. It could have been done better.

That doesn’t necessarily clinch it though. Energon Demolishor was dead before he was rebuilt, and he was treated as the same character (except in Superlink, where the second guy had a different name and *was* a separate character god dammit context). Or like, Optimus Primal, who died and got revived in a new Transmetal body, but remained the same character.

I get where JT’s coming from. I picked up Spotlight Galvatron way back because I was a fan of the classic character and the things that could be done with him, hence why I was perturbed when it turned out that this guy was Galvatron In Name Only, with none of the defining traits (utter insanity, personal ambition causing him to rebel against the power that created him in the first place, a desperation to distance himself from and make up for his mistakes as Megatron) that made him, well, Galvatron. It’s fine to put new spins on characters in a reboot/new continuity, but if they’re going to be marketed as those characters, they should at least have some semblance of their bases. IDW Galvatron could just as easily have been named Sideways, or Gigatron, or Snarl.

Eh, I guess I can see what you mean. I still think it works fantastically for the character, arguably more than the original toy (Samurai armor is inherently chunky and was never meant to look ‘fast’) but those are just, like, our opinions, man.

I was gonna say some stuff about whether Megatron and Galvatron should be considered the same dude or not, but then Prowl said pretty much the same thing I was going to. So I'll just throw this in: Right before Galvatron blew Starscream away, he answered the question "Megatron, is that you?" with "Here's a hint." So was he saying "Yes, it is Megatron, and I fully recall you throwing me out of Astrotrain, asshole. See you in hell", or "No, no it isn't, because Megatron put up with your nonsense, whereas I'm not having it."? Another case of putting more thought into it than the writers did, most likely.

As for whether Tankorr and Rhinox being considered the same character, that there's a pretty good question. Once Tankorr got over the "Tankorr SMASH!" thing, he seemed pretty much in-character as Rhinox to me, anyway. Rhinox doing terrible things, yes, but I could buy that he was Rhinox. But different name and entirely different appearance mean I have no idea how Hasbro would treat it.

Just to make the whole issue even more vague, didn't the video clips for the inductees last year use clips of, say, both G1 and Movie Ironhide, f'rinstance? So if you vote for one character with a particular name, by extension, you're including every similar character with the same name? Would G1, Energon, Animated, and Prime Arcee all be the same character by that logic?

Also, gotta disagree with all you guys on the Vehicon thing and say Thrust was the coolest of 'em.
