On a side note, would any of you be interested in the superhero universe I've been cooking up?
That depends if it's fried in butter or oil.

Mmkay, so. Recently a German friend of mine (Nevermore, as it happens) has been telling me about music that was popular in Germany in the early 90s. I'd never heard of it, and he asked me what was popular here at the time. So I wiki'd it, as one does, and found this page here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_New_Zealand

Browsed through that for some time. Then hit up the Darkwave/Industrial section. NUTE I know 'cause a good mate of mine's brother is in it, but the others were news to me. And then I clicked on the link to Jordan Reyne, and came across her site:

http://www.jordanreyne.com/

It has four albums available for download. I had a looksee at Passenger and was blown away. It has been a very long time since I've heard anything this inspiring. And it's bloody well unknown in the South Island, at least as far as my experience has been. There's only one place here her CDs are stocked, Radar Records. I boosted over there the following day and bought the only album they had for my mother's birthday.

Go have a listen. It's beautiful stuff.

Judas Priest - Exciter - damn playlist on shuffle! It's a fun song, but not a good song. And up next, Helmet - Unsung (skipped over Rancid - Dead Bodies - which I'm just so friggin' tired of).

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Figured I'd revive this thread for no reason!

I'm currently listening to The Protomen's new tune from their second album. It's so unashamedly 80stastic. It sounds like Kenny Loggins mixed with Meat Loaf. http://www.protomen.com/lightupthenight/

Muse "Citizen Erased"

Ever have one of those days where you realize you kinda forgot about a band so you just rock a pile of their musics? Yeah, that's what's happening with these guys and me right now.

Woah, I have the exact same thing with Muse. Forget all about them, then I go "Hey, Muse!" and listen for a while.

Currently I have The Airborne Toxic Event's first album. I like.

So this girl I've been seeing hooked me right on up with some new musics. Right now I'm enjoying "Bite Hard" by Franz Ferdinand. I remember these guys from a few years back, they were okay and all, but this new album's just what I like. I'm gonna be a sad lil' monkey when this current retro-80's-esque dancey-rock revival goes away and we get neo-grunge.

Neo-grunge? That sounds like a movement I'd be a part of! Sort of.

Currently rocking Balls To The Wall by Accept because the band is doing it, and I need to learn the arrangement. And all the bass parts, because the bassist doesn't know how to learn things independently without me showing it to him.

What I'd like to listen to: music I have on cassette tape. I finally decided to digitize all my music from pre-cd days. Slight problem... I may have waited too long to start this project. My tape player has inexplicably quit working. The rest of the unit works fine. CDs play, the radio works and the auxiliary lets me listen to DVDs through the stereo instead of the TV speakers. But the tape player doesn't work. Arrgh.

This sounds like a job for a pawn shop or swap meet. Or maybe Craigslist?

I hadn't had a working tape player in years, but was surprised to find out that my car's got a tape deck and CD player in it's factory stereo. It's a 2003 vehicle, I had no idea tapes were still a thing that recently.
