Botcon 2010 is Generation 2

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!
Generation 1, Generation 2 - Removable fists? Check. Unlicensed vehicle modes? Check. Kickass tape deck robot with transforming cassette minions? DOUBLE CHECK!!!

I'm almost certain that they can't use Movie molds.

Oh. Well I wonder what mold they'd use then?

Wow, self-indulgent fan-fic. Skybite? Really? They go out of there way to use the ugliest colors to be authentic G2...and then they include a late beast-era character that does not even have a similar toy from the G2 era?

Uh, no. Good work Fun Publications. I praise your consistency, (in usting bad ideas and/or ruining good ideas), if nothing else.

Okay, I am no longer getting a complete set. I plan to go for the guys using Sideswipe/Sunstreaker tooling, and maybe the Prowl tooling. I plan to get the loose set, and split it up.

My (rather ample) gut tells me that Clench will be a recolor of Onslaught. Of course, my gut tells me to eat cheese fries despite that being a bad idea....so......

Dom
-really, Skybite. This smells like the Wiki!

Hey, I just thought of something! Dom, what if the Skybyte toy is a retooling of the Sideswipe/Sunstreaker mold?

Shockwave
-Notes that doing that would make about as much sense as including him in this set.

Yeah....that would be funny.

As it is, I might as well go and pick up an extra Sunstreaker, as I might have to in order to make DeadEnd.

Dom
-might as well get Henkei Sunstreaker and Sideswipe as well.

Dibs on your Clench, Pyro and Sky-Byte, then. Seriously. Dibs.

I am buying a loose set through a proxy. But, I will do what I can. You want Pyro, Skybite and Coproma.

Zab and Lewis came up with a plausible, if not entirely pleasant, scenario.

We have 1 Stunticon and 1 Protectobot in the boxed sets. There is no hard rule that says the in-show exclusives have to be 2 packs. Why not....4 packs? It would be expensive yes, but snce when has Master Collector been looking out for fan's wallets?

*=mold currently in service

Stunticons:
-Breakdown (in boxed set)
-Motomaster (blue and purple Prime recolor)
-Deadend (*recolor of Sunstreaker)
-Dragstrip (recolor of Dragstrip/Mirage)
-Wild Rider (*Prowl or *Sunstreaker recolor. Other options exist.)

Protectobots:
-Streetwise (in boxed set)
-Hotspot (*Inferno recolor)
-Blades (recolor of TFU Blades)
-First Aid (TFU Ratchet, possibly with a new head)
-Groove (recolor of "Cybertron" Highttail/Lugnutz)

This leaves Rapido as the give-away.

Thoughts?
Are there any possibilities for Hasbro Toy Shop exclusives that would be consistent with this idea? (Sideswipe and/or Starscream in G2 colors perhaps?)

Dom
-might actually want to get a complete set of the teams....money allowing.

I'm rather surprised you'd be cool with this idea, Dom, considering it'd be a total dick move on a couple of levels. 1) They'd be taking a fabulously rare/expensive set of toys and giving fans a chance at a homage to them that is...a slightly less fabulously expensive set of toys. And 2) you'd have complete sets of G2 Stunticons and Protectobots that could *never combine*. If I did get these toys, I don't know that I'd want to display them since I'd have an uncontrollable urge to start screaming at them every chance I got.

I see what you are saying.

But, at this point, there is amble precedent for making former combiner characters that do not combine. (And, I have heard rumour of fan modification kits for TFU toys that allow for customizable Stunticons using Prime and some cars.)

And, while it would be a fabulously rare and expensive set of toys, it would be a fabulously rare and expensive set of toys that would probably not come out any other way.

Dom
-Lewis is also speculating that Blades might be a recolor of the new Combaticon 'copter.
