The title is revealed and oh those fucking assholes.
If that FCBD thing is anything other than a "first five pages" preview, I am going to be bullshit.
Releasing new content on FCBD, especially for a franchise like TF wth a built in fanbase, defeats the purpose of FCBD and ensures that the "free" comics (that shops still pay for) end up in the hands of people that would have bought them anyway and not getting in to the hands of new fans.

Eh, I think it'll be fine. People that already read TF books can get 'em, people that are just checking out their local comic shop because it's FCBD can pick one up, and people that haven't read any TF comics (or hell, maybe any comics at all) since the original might find it and give it a shot. I don't see the problem here.

...Did we?Because the fans demanded it!
Anyway, I've only just realised how much I dislike it when artists give Optimus Prime a pointy chest. I won't be picking this up solely on that basis.
(Actually, I might read it if it's FCBD.)

Re: TF Regeneration One (retro IDW series)
Yeah, some fans actually did. Furman fed the fires, a petition happened, and IDW caved. On the other hand, as has been pointed out by Prowl (I think) and (maybe) O6, if this happens, it will give the insular and backward elements of the fandom (most of the fans) something to read while IDW publishes a progressive TF comic for the ongoing.
Only if the stores order enough to supply that demand though. I am probably going to end up soaking up 3 or 4 copies of this for friends who are already reading TF and/or comics in general. Those same friends would be more likely to buy the damned book anyway. They want the FCBD issue for the new content. (This is why I am getting one.) Casual FCBD traffic may not come back to the damned store for until the next year's FCBD.
If IDW just reprinted some old content, then some fans would not bother. (Granted, completists would be an issue. But, they are relatively rare in modern times.) This would remove at least some fans from the equation, leaving more comics for new readers who *might* come back if they like what they find on FCBD.

Re: TF Regeneration One (retro IDW series)
Seems like most often FCBD material is just a preview or the content is reprinted somewhere else. Based on past FCBD releases, IDW generally just has previews from upcoming stories.Dominic wrote:If that FCBD thing is anything other than a "first five pages" preview, I am going to be bullshit.
Re: TF Regeneration One (retro IDW series)
New FCBD content is not unheard of though. And IDW re-launched the origonal GI Joe series with a new content FCBD issue, so I would not rule out a new content FCBD story for "ReGeneraton 1".
If I can get extras, I will share them with y'all. But, no promises.

I know that, that's why I said "most often". But like I said, it seems they often reprint that material. Blackest Night #0 for example was new content for FCBD, but that issue was included in the collected editions of Blackest Night, and a black/white "director comments" version was included in the "Tales of the Corps".Dominic wrote:New FCBD content is not unheard of though.

"Regeneration One" is a clever title and that's about all that'll be clever in this series.

Haahahhaaha I didn't actually get it at first. =| My initial reaction was, "lol they're flattering themselves thinking there'll be a sequel!"Onslaught Six wrote:"Regeneration One" is a clever title and that's about all that'll be clever in this series.
