Super important note about DOTM Voyager Megatron

Money, violence, sex, computer graphics, scatalogical humor, racism, robots designed to be rednecks but given European accents, and maybe another sequel to the saga... what's not to love? TF m1, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon and now Age of Extinction.

Super important note about DOTM Voyager Megatron

Post by JediTricks »

I have been meaning to post this, but just a lot going on post-move, so it's taken me a few weeks to just stop for a few minutes and make the time.

Anyway, I picked up Voyager Megatron, and it is a very cool figure, although not an outstanding "Megatron" character, but that's the movie's fault, the toy has a mysterious stranger quality on its own that works without being Megatron specific. This Megatron figure is a tanker truck, specifically a Mack tanker truck. Why is that important? Because Hasbro is including a molded Mack Truck bulldog hood ornament on the figure, and their transformation scheme for the front grille is extremely difficult, confusing, and hard to get moving, making it exceptionally easy to break that tiny plastic bulldog hood ornament clean off. How do I know?

BECAUSE I BROKE THE DAMNED BULLDOG OFF IN MY FIRST TRANSFORMATION OUT OF VEHICLE MODE!!!

Specifically, the little guy's head came right off like it was a piece of manufacturing flash because the grille goes up and rotates, and if you don't rotate and lift in exactly the right way, it becomes a doggy guillotine. In fact, it's almost impossible NOT to break it off thanks to that grille's complex and stiff transformation. What were they thinking?!?

I was able to get Walmart to exchange mine for another one, and now I take enough care to avoid destroying it... for now, but it's clear in a few years once I have forgotten again, that sucker is a goner.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

I dunno if snapping that thing off is all that easy. I never noticed that tiny bulldog until you mentioned it, and mine's stayed on. I'll be keeping an eye on it now, but so far, so good.

And, in a few years, the hood ornament will be considered "acceptable breakage" on over-priced Megatron figures at conventions.

Exact ditto here. This made me go check mine and yeah, Megatron's best friend still has all his wits about him. Thanks for the heads-up though JT, I'm gonna be crazy paranoid about it from now on!
