G-1 new molds count less/not in AEC compared to classics

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

G-1 new molds count less/not in AEC compared to classics

Post by Tigermegatron »

Does G-1 updated homage new molds count less/not at all in AEC,animated, movie verse compared to homages in Classics/generations/RTS?

Does it have to be in the fan catered TF toy lines to count like Universe, Classics, generations,RTS.

Do you not count or count less all the G-1 updated homages from Rid,AEC,Animated,Movie verse,Prime,Titanium 6 inch,Alternators,etc...

Personally I count all TF toy lines as having some decent G-1 updated homage new molds.

It makes ZERO SENSE to just count the fan catered TF toy lines. Because classics, generations & RTS appear to also be in a SEPERATE ALTERNATE TF UNIVERSE/REALITY. their clearly not in the 1980's G-1 same universe/reality.

Personally I think various other TF toy lines created a great number of decent G-1 updated homage new molds that deserve to get acknowledged & not partial acknowledgement that fairs less than classics/generations/RTS.

The TF toys that I feel deserve full acknowledgement of updated G-1 homage new molds is as follows: Rid super sized Ultra Magnus,Titanium 6 inch new mold G-1 Ultra magnus. Titanium 6 inch rodimus prime. Titanium 6 inch scourge. Armada supreme sized Unicron,Cybertron leader sized Metroplex. Energon Ultra sized Scorponok. Animated Arcee. Cybertron voyager sized MTMTE Cybertron mode seeker jet toy mold. Animated Wreckgar, alternators prowl, alternators rodimus, alternators ravage,etc....

Actually, the one place where "Classics" and TFU were given context (Fun Pub comics) presents them as being part of a continuation of G1. Of course, IDW uses the new toys as character models for their comics as well....

I try to look at the figure and information presented on the package. From there, it is a question of figuring out if it is literally the same character (G1 Bumblebee and Goldbug, Unicron), idiomatically the same (G1 Prime, UT Prime, RiD Prime or G1 Smokescreen and UT Smokescreen), or just a name re-use in or out of the same line, (Inferno, Skywarp, Mirage, Jetstorm, Sonar, Smokescreen and other are commonly used names that are not always applied to the same character...)

They're all just toys.

If I like a newer character enough, I'll "adopt" him somehow into the "regular" TF universe and pretend he was always there. Like Lockdown, his ROTF toy was good enough that I've just lumped him in with all my Classics Decepticons. I really wish we had a decent non-Movie-related Barricade toy so that I could put him on that shelf too.

Yeah, but that is the path to the dark side....aka fanfic.

And, as you point out (re: Barricade), toys from one line do not always fit in nicely with toys from another. The only reason I can deal with UT moulds on the same shelf as TFU/TFG is because Hasbro's case packing makes it okay. (And, even then, I still have trouble with it.)

I suppose I could customize a Prowl if you really want one....

I'm sure I could too. :P

I dunno, I don't think Prowl works for it. Barricade's bulky but also spindly, he's not very standard-looking. It's a hard line to deal with, I guess.

That is a tough thing to balance in the Classics style. Bulky and spindly sounds like something that would fit better in animated.
