Money, violence, sex, computer graphics, scatalogical humor, racism, robots designed to be rednecks but given European accents, and maybe another sequel to the saga... what's not to love? TF m1, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon and now Age of Extinction.
So a couple weeks ago Dom asked if I wanted any tips in customizing figures after I'd commented about The Fallen's colors shown at Botcon this year. I'd said I already have done a few customs to make a few movie figures a bit more accurate and he asked if I could post a couple pictures of them. So here they are.
First up is ROTF Leader Optimus.
Next is Jazz, I felt really he needed to be painted silver instead of the flat gray (I never got the Premium version). I also gave him the gun that came with the battle damaged Jazz figure.
Here I've got the first movie's version of New Bee.
ROTF Sideswipe, didn't really need a whole lot but I thought it'd look better with some more silver.

I also painted a few more details on the 'Robo Vision' version of Voyager Optimus Prime.
That Robo-Vision Prime is cringe-worthy. I try to avoid painting rare stuff like that. It looks good, but oi..... (Keep in mind, that I have painted a Henkei or two, so ya know.)
Over-all, good use of metallics. (Given the QC on the "Premium" Jazz figure, you likely would have had to paint it over yourself anyway.) Have you tried dry-brushing? That tends to work well when applying metallics to textured surfaces.

Rare? It may have been a store exclusive release but my local Targets seemed to always have dozens of them on shelves when these were out... I really don't see it as a rare figure at all, hence why I had no qualms adding some paint to it in the first place. And it turned out well so I have no complaints about the work I did to it.

Yeah, that's pretty much one of the best methods I've found to paint some of the details on these figures.
