TF Views

I've heard this term used to describe the more flexible parts of a Transformer's anatomy, specifically stuff like faces and especially the various bits of the Beast Warriors. However, I'm not sure if this is a term used in the actual continuity, or if it's just a fan name for any part of a Transformer that's supposed to be metal, but moves and reacts to stimulus like flesh. Can anyone fill me in on this? Fan nickname, or official term? And what IS the "fleshmetal" parts of a Transformer supposed to be made out of, anyway? Some kind of memory Cybertronium alloy or something?

Can't say I've ever heard the term "fleshmetal" before. Usually I see people talk about "liquid metal" or nanite technology to explain things like the Tranformers faces. At any rate, I've never seen an official source cover the subject. Just fan explanations.

Nobody knoooows! It's usually just one of those things you sort of ignore for the sake of simplicity.

Of course, the real answer is that the Diaclone toys were never designed to have faces that would have 'expressions.' They were piloted mecha, the faces would've remained emotionless and stable. Like Big O.

I always assumed some kind of soft plastic/metal to be covering the faces. Of course, the art in "Generation 2" implies that the faces were made of hundreds of itty bitty bits.

Not really. The closest this gets is, I think, the cover to #5, and really it just looks like Megs has some greebly bits that lead into his helmet.

I always just assumed it was a particularly pliable type of metal.

In the marvel TF G-1 & G-2 comics,it was implied that the robot bodies were alive & had self healing abilities. it appeared in these marvel TF comics,that their was some sort of metalic based skin covering the robot bodies metal skeletons. when transformers got heavy damage in these comics,you'd see teeth,eye balls,veins,inner robotic skeletons & so forth.

The Generation one pretenders definately had some newer technology on the pretender shells. that made e'm look,act & feel more organic. they most likely weren't organic. these pretnder shells faces & bodies had some type of robotic skin that moved,stretched & felt pain more.

Sadly the beastwars cartoons seasons 2 & 3 never trully explored the transmetal 1 toy concept of organic robot bodies & mechanical beast modes theme. at best the cartoon treated both transmetal 1 modes are more robotic. even the transmetal 2 concept wasn't explored in season 3.

Beastmachines really tried better to explore the maximals with their newer technology bodies.
