Star Wars TF Magnaguard / Porax-38

Wow, it actually looks like a Transformer for once, and not just a bunch of shell parts slapped on a generic stick figure! Pretty basic altmode, but it's mostly accurate and doesn't seem to be suffering kibble. I haven't bought a SWTF in a long time now due to the suckage, and of not having minifigs, but I'm pretty sure I'll be buying this, I actually like the robot mode.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Re: Star Wars TF Magnaguard / Porax-38
Want this, also want that Battle Droid. SWTF seems to have largely stalled here, they cranked the price up by a ridiculous amount. Did get the AT-TE/Captain Rex, and that's a figure that looks better than it plays, very hurt by the lack of minifigs since he has a functional gunner's seat in his handheld rifle. Wanted the Torrent, can't justify the new price tag.
I miss the glory days of SWTF (Heh), it seems Star Wars itself is unsure of its future.

Re: Star Wars TF Magnaguard / Porax-38
There's been SWTFs that I've wanted, but when it came time to pull the trigger, I just couldn't make it happen. The higher price just irritates when I can't help but feel that I'll be getting something substandard for my moneys. Says the guy that really likes Titaniums, amirite?
This one's real pretty, though, and is apparently a droid of some sort? That's kinda neat, too. Still, if I couldn't bring myself to get an AT-AT, that crazy ship with the shark mouth, or the Vader Death Star, then what are the odds that this'll do it, y'know?
Now, Hasbro wants to realize my dream of the Jar-Jar/Gungan sub, then it'd be on.

Man, all I'm looking for is that black Palpatine repaint. Someone let me know when they make an IG-88, mm'kay?

Re: Star Wars TF Magnaguard / Porax-38
The AT-AT was unfortunately craptacular, it legoformed and had a bad mix of paint apps that made it look half-finished. There were two nifty shark mouth deco'd ships, though, the ARC and the Gunship, both of which are pretty cool. I'd say regular Gunship is better than sharky Gunship, though, but the ARC was pretty neat. Darth Star, though? That thing's worlds of awesome. How can you turn down a toy that finds your lack of faith disturbing? This one's real pretty, though, and is apparently a droid of some sort? That's kinda neat, too. Ehh, wouldn't call Palps a huge loss either, passed that one up when I saw it. Did you get original flavour? It was Just Okay, mainly due to the retro-cool of the vehicle mode, and the head looking like Jhiaxus.Man, all I'm looking for is that black Palpatine repaint. Last really good regular flavour SWTF I got was..mmm.. Cody. Commander Cody is 'really' cool. The Grievous Starfighter comes close, it has an excellent ship design and a great transformation trick with the legs. Yet it too requires legoforming, and has some terrible jointing that lets it down where it needed it most. Also, NO MINIFIGS GUR.

Nah, only SWTF I ever got was Jango Fett, and I was rather...let down by him. I mainly want Sideous because I'm a rather large fan of the character. That's what they need to do to get me to buy more of these things, rather than over half the line just being generics. Could also do with more ships that I like, a la ones from the Original Trilogy. Where's my A-Wing and B-Wing, Hasbro?!onslaught86 wrote:Ehh, wouldn't call Palps a huge loss either, passed that one up when I saw it. Did you get original flavour? Also, IG-88. I don't care how it looked, I would almost certainly buy one if they made it.

The Fett mould is alright, but you really need to give him a badass rifle to make it all click together.
It's amazing what an accessory will do for a toy.

The BD that's an AAT tank? I really don't see it with that one, it's a massive shellmaster that ends up being just a shellmaster-bot with a battle droid head. It's on the shelves here right now, I think.onslaught86 wrote:Want this, also want that Battle Droid.
I've been passing on a lot of them without the figures, and the new pricing destroys the line.SWTF seems to have largely stalled here, they cranked the price up by a ridiculous amount. IMO, Star Wars itself is about to turn a corner with the cartoon leading into the new show, but in terms of collecting it's very nearly out of gas.I miss the glory days of SWTF (Heh), it seems Star Wars itself is unsure of its future.
Same boat, cannot pull the trigger on these lately due to the high price and substandard toy.138 Scourge wrote:There's been SWTFs that I've wanted, but when it came time to pull the trigger, I just couldn't make it happen. It is an IG-100 Magna Guard droid. It uses an electro-staff weapon that is able to counter a lightsaber. This one's real pretty, though, and is apparently a droid of some sort?
Because this could pass for a regular-ass Transformer where none of the others could, AND it doesn't get super lazy with shell parts the way ALL the others you mentioned did (except the AT-AT, which instead is just a shameful robot mode all around). That's kinda neat, too. Still, if I couldn't bring myself to get an AT-AT, that crazy ship with the shark mouth, or the Vader Death Star, then what are the odds that this'll do it, y'know?
What will he turn into, the pipes under your sink?BWprowl wrote:Man, all I'm looking for is that black Palpatine repaint. Someone let me know when they make an IG-88, mm'kay?

What Legoforming is on the Grievous Starfighter??? I think you're mistaken there.onslaught86 wrote: The Grievous Starfighter comes close, it has an excellent ship design and a great transformation trick with the legs. Well, thing is, with a line like this, a big part of what draws my interest is the character's iconic value in one mode or another. So The Vader Star would have that going in both modes, the AT-AT at least looked cool in robot dinosaur-thing mode, and the shark-faced thing...eh, has a shark face. Whereas this I look at and go, "Ooh, kinda cool, but I have no earthly idea who that is". Now, if you guys wind up telling me that it's a really spectacular toy, I might consider it.
Also, the never-gonna-happen Jar Jar sub would be worth it to me because of the "Character almost nobody else loves" aspect.

Re: Star Wars TF Magnaguard / Porax-38
I'll be honest, this line has been burning its iconic SW character bridges a lot more lately, I think Vader Death Star was the high point, and everything after has been on a downward slope. The magna guards were formidable opponents for Obi-Wan in Episode III, and make for decent tough baddies in the Clone Wars cartoon, but they're never going to be iconic. And the vehicle isn't iconic, true, but I don't think the V-19 Torrent or V-wing or ARC-170 are all that iconic either.138 Scourge wrote:Well, thing is, with a line like this, a big part of what draws my interest is the character's iconic value in one mode or another. I doubt it'll happen only because it's not "aggressive" enough, but it's not something outside the realms of possibility. Also, the never-gonna-happen Jar Jar sub would be worth it to me because of the "Character almost nobody else loves" aspect.
