Knock Out designed backwards

The rear wheel on Knock Out is on backwards, both halves are in the wrong arms, and they're friction-pinned into an area that seems very difficult to free up. This seems to be a design flaw, as the left wheel half labeled "BL" (probably Back Left) actually should be on the right. What's the big deal about this, you ask? Knock Out has a sculpted brake rotor on the rear wheel on 1 side, unfortunately they assembled it so it's facing and thus hidden by the drive chain gear. They even sculpted brake calipers to the right fork half to correspond to the rotor that should have been there. Oops!

Well, I just tried to tap the pin out on one of the wheels, and the spokes of the wheel collapsed. $8 mistake, I guess.

The arm is what has to be held, I knew this, but it's SO thin and skeletal and close to the wheel and has a detail in the way that I couldn't figure out a method to do it, so I went straight in and so did the wheel hub.

My best guess on how to get this done is either the soldering gun trick (heat gun, touch gun to pin until it fuses, pull pin, work pin off gun) but I've never done it before. If anybody finds a better way to tap out the pin instead, LMK.

In other news on this, I shaved off the block preventing the front wheel from going horizontal, and I shaved down the block keeping the rear wheel locked in the wrong position in alt mode. That stuff worked at least, but I suspect this assembly error to be of a permanent nature.

I'd not noticed this, but I just fiddled with a friend's briefly and went "This is not worth buying". May be tempted by Reverb, if the joints are improved. You've seen the pics of Knock Out with the leg kibble attached to the back as wings, i trust?

Sounds like shades of Cybertron Ransack here, too.

The figure is definitely a "C" grade, middle of the road basic, not terrible, not brilliant. I do prefer his transformation over the mess of the Deluxe motorcycles though. His joints are loose, no question, but they are fixable.

Yeah, I've seen those pics, done it myself, it's in my review. Ironically, I just checked and it appears the block on the front wheel was there to keep the panels from popping off in wing mode, ironic since Hasbro disavowed them as wings. :p

Nothing that bad, that was a massive blunder where the whole arm was upside-down, this is only an aesthetic screwup.

Ah, hadn't seen your restructuring of the review section when I posted, apologies!

Just didn't inspire me, so I didn't bite, the joint tolerances irked me a lot, and many were pin joints that are not easily tightened. The Deluxe cycles have the combination as their make-or-break point for me, as there is no way I'll waste money on designs that impractical and awful with no payoff. Urgh, the Cycle Drones and Thrust were so much cooler.

Saw Reverb for the first time today, he's oddly much more impressive on person. Plan to pick him up later in the week, will check the wheel assembly then and let you know if it's fixed. The unpainted gun-hand bothers me too, but I thoroughly dig the resemblence of the headsculpt to original Ultra Optimus Primal's mutant head - it took me a while to realise that was what it reminded me of.

Oh, man, it totally does, too. With the bug eyes. There's a little bit of Wolfang in there, too, I think--or maybe that's Detour I'm thinking of. (Why call him Dead End? That just breeds confusion!)

I think we're being too hard on some of the Basics this time around, but it's hard not to be when they're eight bucks. Eight bucks! We had Deluxes for less than that last year. But what are we to do?

Maybe you guys are, but I've really enjoyed the...um, wow, just three of 'em that I've gotten. Even Dead End's grown on me.

I'll most likely get Knock-Out over Reverb, because I can put up with a C-grade Basic, and his colors are just neater. But I think Rollbar's gotta be next. Still, more Animated or Titaniums take priority.

No prob, blame your hetero life-partner O6 for the abrupt changes. ;)

Easily.

You guys have Reverb already? Rats. We don't yet. LMK what you think of him if you get him, I'm likely not to at this point.

The connection to that mutant head mask is pretty funny because it is true, but likely just incidental.

I think it's the lackluster molds in the early waves. Wave 1 has a couple really awesome entries, Ransack and Depthcharge, and then the rest taper off from there. And too many of the ones that aren't great have known superior repaints coming, so it's easy to be hard on these. The deluxes are kinda like that too, a few good entries and then a bunch of head-scratchers like Turds and Assflap and Breakwind. (it's a themed insult)

It sounds like you're not inspired to get a lot of the figures this time, that's definitely how I feel. For me, the next guy to get in the basics is Dirt Boss, but he's fast becoming a pegwarmer here so I don't feel rushed.

Sometimes that phrase rings far truer than you would ever think.

Oh, definitely, but that doesn't make the resemblance any less cool.

What's wrong with Skids and Mudflap? Besides the obvious? I mean, the heads look cruddy but the figures themselves kind of intrigue me...

I'm waiting for a Dirt Boss repaint. Maaaaybe. If one doesn't show up soon, I might nab him just to have him. He's the last remaining design from last year's game.

I'm definitely not inspired to get a lot of them either, though. A lot of them are repaints or remoulds of guys I already have from the first movie, but it's understandable as to why one would want these--I remember Zobovor saying on ATT that he had seen the movie and decided to get some of the characters from it, but by that point, everyone from the Movie itself had disappeared from shelves.

That said, I'm pretty excited for a lot of the guys coming out. Human Alliance Barricade, mmmmm...

Heh, I shall. All his fault!

Will do. He ships with Dune Runner - who's AWESOME, and you'll love him - and Scalpel. I'll be picking Reverb and Scalpel up tomorrow.

Likely, yet neat all the same. Knock Out does look more like Wolfang, but the red on Reverb screams Primal.

Looks like they're spacing the line with lots of filler. I like how, despite legit movie characters taking a while to filter out, we're already getting repaints and retools. Weaksauce, there's not much to keep me interested. I'll have all the Basics I want until Ejector by tomorrow, and we've seen nothing after that aside from Nightbeat. Hoping on a Dirt Boss repaint at some point, preferably in orange as a GoBot nod, heh.

Human Alliance intrigues, and aside from the heads the twins look..okay. Have you messed with either of them? I'm curious. They look asstastic, yet somehow interesting, I caved on Demolishor and don't regret it.

We've got lots of good stuff coming out, it's just taking a while to do so, and that's pretty annoying.
