ROTF Depth Charge
ROTF Soundwave
ROTF Rampage

Haven't opened the Deluxes yet, although it's worth noting that I waffled a bit between Breakaway and Rampage. And from what I'm hearing, I should've gone with Breakaway...

...Why? I know now that you love Rampage anyway, but that's besides the point. Breakaway looks competent but horribly boring, and his colours are cruddy. I'm waiting for a repaint, and I might not even get that.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

I'll agree that Breakaway is absolutely begging for a repaint, but his design still really appeals to me. I'm really hoping that the cockpit can actually close down over his head in robot mode, that'd be adorable.

Look, I clearly just have weird taste when it comes to this toyline. Leave me alone.

Botcon hauls:
- Met our Mirage, cool guy with cool friends.
- 2 Hasbro freebie crumpled posters with all the figures on one side and the movie logo on the other. (I suck with posters)
- 2 Hasbro freebie comic adaptations (con-exclusive, not complete, with underwhelming Kmart coupons, including 2 free movie tickets if you buy $50 in menswear???)
- 1 Hasbro freebie RPM Bumblebee (I originally got Ratchet, but when Mirage turned in his flier, he got BB so I asked Hasbro to trade me and they did) Needs metal for a $4 toy, but as a freebie it's good. Movie 1 design, no hood scoop. Mirage pointed out to me that the cardback has techspec stats for vehicle mode: Max Speed (6 WTF???), Horsepower (8 massive loss of torque I guess), Ramming Power (6 seriously, where's all that horsepower going?), and Armor (5 seems reasonable for a car, not like he's a tank in alt mode). The bio on the left says he's fast in the first sentence and has high speed in the last, what are they comparing this to?
- Toynami Macross:DYRL Roy Focker Strike Valkyrie $20 (not a fantastic price, but $5 cheaper than I've seen, and I don't have a cool version of this Veritech fighter with all its gear). Haven't opened yet, later today I hope.
- TF:ROTF Sideswipe - awesome.
- TF:ROTF Rampage - awesomely bad.
- TF THS-02 Convoy - $50 because it had a slight tear on the front of the box. Fantastic figure, very cool in every way. Love the accessories, great stuff all around. Alt mode truck is a bit shabby, and trailer is too large for it, but makes an awesome set just because it transforms at all.
- Shout Factory freebie keychain and glasses cleaning cloth (I don't wear glasses, but I do have a camera that got really dusty on the lens).

According to Hasbro, that transaction has "gone too far". (That was the phrase Greg Lombardo rolled out half a dozen times in reference to infringements on Hasbro IP during the Saturday panel.)

Iplayed with Breakaway at the con, really lame figure. Transformation is bizarre, head doesn't even come out of the cockpit, you simply open the cockpit (which is the only part I do like, I love opening canopies) and there it is looking all doofy. Color scheme is an eyesore too. I saw someone compare it as Wheelie with a jet mode, seems about right. There's just so much stuff in the back that doesn't get used right. And yes I'm aware he has a spinning gatling gun on his forearm, but it looks bad in these colors. At the very least, wait until a repaint comes out, hopefully with a less ridiculous head.

Rampage, for all he sucks, sucks in an interesting way and has a lot of external detail (it's the robot details I don't care for), and at least his colors are only boring, not hideous.

Breakaway is NOT competent.

Yeah, pretty sure it can, I couldn't even get it OPEN at first. Maybe there was a busted tab somewhere that I didn't see which will restrict what you're talking about, but I don't think so.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

I dunno. Reprolabels has been in business for years and years, and Hasbro never came down on them before. Were they specifically mentioned?

No, but Hasbro mentioned years of "latitude" that had been taken advantage of.

ROTF Ransack. One of those toys that's more fun in vehicle mode than robot mode. VRRRRAAAAAMMMM BRAKABRAKABRAKA YEoooowwwmmmm putterputterputter

The sad thing is that I know if he had been an Animated figure he'd have a twirly mustache and a bomber cap. And maybe real legs.

And what Target lacks, Wal-Mart delivers on! Picked up both Starscream and Sideswipe. Haven't unboxed them yet, but I'm quite happy anyway. Should hold me, since I really need to curb my spending from now until the move...

Which, in one line, perfectly sums up why I like Animated toys a lot more than Movie toys.

Super Comics Haul of Awesome!

Secret Six #10: Again, this book makes me like friggin' Bane as a character. The hell? Maybe I just love this book so because I have a weakness for super-villain comics, but the high quality of writing and art probably have some to do with it.

Agents of Atlas #6: Not bad, I dunno. This one's sorta on probation.

Exiles #3: I like the gimmick of each alternate Earth being drawn by a different artist (if that's what's happening here), but I could see it going very, very wrong.

Captain Britain and MI-13 Annual #1 Can it really be an Annual if it's to be the only one. Sigh. I'll miss this book.

Batman and Robin #1: I could give less than a crap about new Robin, and New Batman was kinda predictable, but when you've got Morrison and Quitely on a comic, you've got a comic this guy's reading, I'll tell you whut.

and the king of the haul:

I Shall Destroy all the Civilized Planets! by Fletcher Hanks. It's a "How-To" book.

Okay, no it isn't. It's actually a collection of some truly bizarre comics from the early years of comic books. It's so, so amazing.
