Re: Devastator and Fallen Revealed!
Dev is...wow. I honestly can't tell if I love it or hate it. The turbine head is polarizing. I shall wait for moar.
On the other hand, Fallen looks pretty kickass, in a streamlined Evangelion kinda way.

Re: Devastator and Fallen Revealed!
I suspect that Devastator will look decidedly better once we get shots of him alongside...anything. Buildings, other TFs, something. From the size of his component parts, he should be rather hyoog, but in that pic, his proportions and the lack of anything for scale just make him look too stumpy to me. OTOH, they've gone with a straight, Scramble City-style, 'each limb is one component' combination, which I really can't approve of after all these years. The BW Combiners showed such ingenuity a decade ago, why can't this guy? I'll concede that I dig the head though.
As for the Fallen, I'm decidedly distasteful towards it. First off: not On Fire. And the whole thin, wirey look doesn't really fit for the Big Bad that the Fallen is supposed to be, though frankly, I'm mostly just kind of unhappy that the Fallen's in this movie at all.

On the other hand, if the Fallen is the main villain, maybe we'll avoid an Optimus vs. Megatron retread. And it's interesting that the Fallen was actually chosen, given that he's a recent addition to the Transformers roster of characters.

The torso is clearly made up of several vehicles, at least. And the BW combiners Did Not Have That Much Ingenuity. Hooray! Let's wrap the lion in the bird, and then wrap the elephant around that whole thing! I mean, the entire thing is pretty much Ironhide (who ends up a sucky individual toy because of it) with Prowl and Silverbolt stuck in the middle.BWprowl wrote:I suspect that Devastator will look decidedly better once we get shots of him alongside...anything. We don't know 'anything' about what The Fallen's supposed to be like, dude, so maybe his thin, spindly appearance fits. Plus, the toy had bits that visibly showed him being at least slightly On Fire, so I suspect that'll show up in more renders. Hell, maybe fire comes from 'all those red bits.'As for the Fallen, I'm decidedly distasteful towards it. First off: not On Fire. Eh, what I mainly meant by 'ingenuity' was 'Something other than the bog-standard bots-become-limbs combination scheme that I am ungodly sick of'.Onslaught Six wrote:The torso is clearly made up of several vehicles, at least. Okay, I'll give you that I was too quick to assume that this supposed to be like Geewun Fallen, but I still don't have to like the look in general. The hollow shoulders don't look good to me, and I wish he had a better head.We don't know 'anything' about what The Fallen's supposed to be like, dude, so maybe his thin, spindly appearance fits. Re: Devastator and Fallen Revealed!
Devastator looks like the retarded, aborted clone-sibling of that one boss from Metroid Fusion that you get the Gravity suit from. He looks really ugly and out of place, even in the Bayformer universe, and yes, the turbine head is definitely a contributing factor to that sentiment; it looks like he's got the mask from the Splatterhouse games flash-welded onto a roto-rooter by a complete amateur that probably got half his face melted in the process.
The Fallen looks like a freaking Bionicle toy, I'm sorry. He does not look intimidating to me, at all. I half expect him to pledge his allegiance to Makuta, in the movie.

Re: Devastator and Fallen Revealed!
I love how everyone assumes The Fallen is actually supposed to be intimidating or remotely threatening in the first place. What indications of that have we been given, aside from the title? We don't know 'what' he's going to do. For all we know, he could serve a similar purpose to The Architect from Matrix Reloaded, and just show up at the end to heap a bunch of shit nobody understands onto the end, and that's the last we see of him.

I'd have to agree, the red bits in the image appears to be glowing. That suggests to me that we might see him shoot flames from those sections.Onslaught Six wrote:Hell, maybe fire comes from 'all those red bits.'
The Fallen's head appears to be based on an Egyptian Pharaoh, which fits the rumors that The Fallen somehow influenced the Ancient Egyptians and the involvement of the pyramids in the film.BWprowl wrote:Okay, I'll give you that I was too quick to assume that this supposed to be like Geewun Fallen, but I still don't have to like the look in general. For what, we can only dream, and Michael Bay can only guess.
