Mega Prime and New Starscream boxes revealed

Money, violence, sex, computer graphics, scatalogical humor, racism, robots designed to be rednecks but given European accents, and maybe another sequel to the saga... what's not to love? TF m1, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon and now Age of Extinction.

Mega Prime and New Starscream boxes revealed

So we've got 'another' Mega Prime repaint, and a new-mould Starscream. See also the co-sell of Ironhide.

Prime, well, yay. Hasbro must have taken a hit on that mould, since they're milking it to absolute excess, the same way they did with NewBee. Can understand and ignore another repaint. Ironhide, however, is a bloody retool of the first mould with better guns. That's incredibly weak, since it indicates that's the only Ironhide we'll be getting, I'm really not fond of that mould, and was hoping for a better one.

Starscream's an interesting one, at least this explains the markings in the comic. The vehicle mode seems a lot better, no kibble and less panels. Robot however.. This looks to have similar proportions to the odd Legend. The legs are too small, and the arms are too far down, with the torso being too long. Ack. I like the arms a lot, he has actual hands now, and proper pop-out guns. Chest detailing looks neat, though the head's strange and small. Hmm, I will buy this, but it's not what I was hoping for.

And I see a new gimmick: MechAlive, oooh. Does this replace Automorphing?

Yes! Starscream with the AllSpark doodles all over him! Anything Movie Comics-related is welcome in my book, and I really like that look for Starscream. Definitely getting that one, though I'll agree that the torso proportions do look a little wonky. Ironhide... I'm on the fence about. I got the first version waaaaaay back, first Movie Voyager I got. I'll see how this one looks in person.

Still totally "Wheeeee!" about Starscream though...

Apparently this is what Starscream will look like in the movie, it's not just something IDW made up for the comics.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Great work!

Man, that is a fugly paintjob on Screamer, and the moving gears is a total WTF moment. But the worst is that name, "Mech Alive!", doesn't sound TF at all, reminds me of a short-lived toy line from the '90s, Mummies Alive!

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Hah! Knew it reminded me of something. Mummies Alive! had some great figures, despite the short lifespan.
