TF:U Cheetor & Hound spotted

Post by JediTricks »

Wal-mart in Porter Ranch, California. 2 Cheetors, 1 Hound. $7.77 a piece, I bought one of each.

Cheetor is pretty bad, some interesting ideas but the execution and aesthetic just don't hold up that well.

Hound is quite nifty, the detailing is minimalistic which hides how cool he really is. Bot mode is quite articulated and poseable, transformation is clever without being frustrating, and alt mode is keen. Ravage is very cool, I like how they gave him actual width instead of being 2-dimensional the way the G1 version was. Articulation could be better, and they didn't paint any cassette details on him which is a shame, but still good.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Oh shit, it's on now. A pity I no longer have a vehicle.

I'm certainly planning on picking up Hound, but I'm disappointed in the pictures of Cheetor that I've seen. While the Cheetah mode is a vast improvement over the original toy (how could it not be?), the robot mode doesn't impress. I'm more interested in Beast Machines Cheetor than the original BW version anyway, and the Titanium version works in that regard.

Well, isn't Cyclonus in this same wave? That's what I've been looking for, anyway.

Yeah, Cyclonus is topping my priority list too. Though frankly, I'll probably just buy whoever I see of this wave first. Including Starscream. It recently occured to me that I had no representation of G1 Starscream whatsoever in my collection. That...just doesn't seem right.

Eh, I didn't either until Classics came along. Then I got Masterscream. How did you miss Masterscream?

He's too big, too pricey, and I hear he's nigh-impossible to play/fiddle with easily. I'd be constantly afraid of breaking him. Anyway, I simply don't like Starscream all that much, certainly enough to justify dropping fifty bucks on a huge-ass version with bad feet. But I think I need SOME representation of the character, and the 25A version will serve that purpose well.

The only MP figure I want is still MP-04 Convoy. The others just don't look all that interesting to me.

I've heard nothing but great stuff about Megs.

US Release Screamer isn't fragile at all.

Cheetor is indeed heinous. Some good ideas are wrapped in a disaster of execution. Robot mode is an absolute mess. The more I fiddle with him, the more problems I notice.

Cyclonus is indeed in this wave, can't find him though. I hate the distribution of late.
