I hate to hear that about Side Burn. Been considering whether or not to pick one up. Might want to just skip it, judging by your review.
Today's haul: Superman The Triangle Era Omnibus volume 1. I remember these books quite fondly, back in the late 80s/early 90s when the four different Superman books essentially formed a weekly series, and the triangle on the cover indicated what order to read them in. There's about a year's worth of Superman comics in this book at almost 1400 pages. Collects Superman #49-64; Adventures of Superman #472-486; Action Comics #659-673; and Superman: The Man of Steel #1-8. Can't wait to read and enjoy these again.

Re: 2024 Hauls
I generally browse the Transformers when I visit the local comic book shop, and today I picked up Transformers Legacy Autobot Skids. I'd kept my eye on him when he was in stores but had never pulled the trigger, and I'm glad I didn't, because he was $16 for what looks like an unopened figure, less than I'd have paid at retail. Box has a little damage, but is in decent shape. I don't always open these figures up, but I may take him out and fiddle. I have a G1 Skids, one of the Japanese reissues, and he's a fun little figure. Maybe that's what inspired me to pick up a modern remake.
Re: 2024 Hauls
It's really the only good Skids figure (not including MP, which I don't have). It's pretty much the original G1 figure, but with decent articulation.andersonh1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 5:32 pm I generally browse the Transformers when I visit the local comic book shop, and today I picked up Transformers Legacy Autobot Skids. Anyway, hauls! Been a lot since the last posting:
Transformers: A LOT of comic only figures: Comic Edition Shockwave: I love this figure. I mean, it's Shockwave, so that was kind of a given right there, but the paint apps, the iconic cover on the box, the included Optimus Prime head... Yeah, it's an easy win for me. If you like the comics, or Shockwave in particular or the Siege mold (or any combination of those 3), then this is the figure for you. It certainly is for me.
Comic Edition Straxus: YESSSS!!! I think we've all been wanting a decent comic style Straxus for a long time and this really delivers! He is a heavy remold of KIngdom/Legacy Galvatron and honestly, it really works. The cannon mode manages to pull off the look from comic as does the robot mode. There are a few parts that I wish had been remolded, like the shoulder pauldrons and maybe the legs, but there's enough different that it really does feel like it's own, new, separate thing. Now they need to do a new Scrounge, with a crushed arm accessory.
Comic Edition Xaaron and Flame: These comic editions are really knocking it out of the park. Xaaron is actually a remold of the Siege Refractor mold, but you wouldn't know it until you start fiddling with it. Which is awesome! And having him deluxe size is great, he scales well with other figures from the comics, including Impactor and Kingdom Magnus. Flame is pretty awesome as well, remolding Gamer edition Megatron was a good fit. It's not perfect, but like the others, it does what it needs to.
Ferak: Ok, I was really going to pass on this one since I already have two of the Kingdom Cyclonus figures and didn't really need another one. And I sure as heck did not want a "Star Raider" reference from that crappy OTFCC comic. But, then I found out it's actually a "character" from the same comic story as Straxus. The Decepticon Rando that appeared for 3 pages before getting scrapped by Blaster. Yeah, both he and Xaaron are never getting transformed. Ferak is staying in alt mode since we never see him in bot mode and the reverse for Xaaron.
And to wrap up the comic references: Marvel Death's Head: YES!! Finally a Death's Head figure! I'm assuming this is based on his appearances in most of the Marvel titles because his outfit doesn't match what he's wearing in the TF comics. But, you know what? Don't care! Still looks awesome on my 86 Decepticon shelf.
Titan Guardian Robot: At the time I had some Amazon gift cards from work and Omega Supreme was like, $350.00 on ebay and over $600 on Amazon, so I thought I'd get the next best thing. Guardian Robot was discounted to $160.00. It's actually pretty awesome! There are a few panels on the rocket that don't lock into place, but I think that's just mine. But overall, I really like what they did with it. I can't compare it to anything else because I've never had any version of Omega Supreme. Ever. And no, the PVC "Heroes of Cybertron" doesn't count lol. I have since preordered the rerelease of Omega Supreme, since that's the version I really want, but this is a great placeholder.
Studio Series:
Bumblebee: You know what? I like this figure. Yeah, I said it. I know I'm not supposed to because "alt mode" or whatever, but it's still a good Bumblebee figure. Yeah, the Netflix one and the upcoming retro releases look more like the cartoon and maybe they should have gone with that, but I'm good with this one too. Although, what they probably SHOULD have done is release the retro one as the SS 86, give this one the toy accurate head and release that as the retro figure, which would pair well with the Gears with his toy head. Oh well. Same end result I guess.
Swoop: SIGH... I have a complicated relationship with this figure. Swoop was always my favorite Dinobot. So I felt like I was kind of obligated to get this. BUT, that now leads me down a rabbit hole of getting the other SS Dinobots. Which I really wasn't intending. Also, this is really an upscaled version of core class Swoop, which is... not good. The dino head can't turn in alt mode, there's no separate dino feet in alt mode... The robot mode is fine, nothing to write home about. It's just kind of... meh. Thanks, I hate it. I really expected this to be better. Everything from the lack of articulation or detail in the alt mode, the way they REALLY messed up the wings (seriously, how does both Air Razor and Terrorsaur have better wings at deluxe scale than this) and I just... Look, unless you have some need to complete the SS Dinobots or you REALLY love Swoop (and even then...) skip this. Just get a G1 Swoop. That's a better figure than this. OR, OR!! Combiner Wars/Titans Return/whatever Swoop. THAT was a great Swoop. A hell of a lot better than this one. And that one is available in both toy and cartoon flavors.
SS86 Sludge: Found one for cheap at a toy store and since I was getting swoop... Yeah, we've got the same thing going on here. I like this figure better than how Swoop turned out, but these are not the pinacle figures they're supposed to be.
Anyway, that's it for the moment. I'll probably post more later since there's probably way more stuff I've hauled since my last post.

Re: 2024 Hauls
I saw that they were re-releasing Omega Supreme. When is it coming out? I'd love to have one, but I'm going to have to save my pennies for a while.
I still have my G1 figure that I got for Christmas one year. Omega Supreme has always been one of my favorites, and a giant new version is something I'd definitely like to have.

Re: 2024 Hauls
That's super disappointing. I just got Swoop to complete the Leader class Dinobots, and I was looking forward to an articulated dino mode. It's $50! They couldn't spring for at least a head swivel?Shockwave wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 1:45 pm Swoop: SIGH... I have a complicated relationship with this figure. Swoop was always my favorite Dinobot. It's not coming out until September 2025, so there's plenty of time to save the pennies! He's available for preorder on both Pulse and BBTS.andersonh1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 4:37 pmI saw that they were re-releasing Omega Supreme. When is it coming out? Re: 2024 Hauls
Actually, now that I think about it, Dino mode head swivel would probably be impossible without parts forming, given that the front half folds down into the chest. Also, I don't think there's ever been one that had a head swivel.Ursus mellifera wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 7:27 amThat's super disappointing. Also, another haul! Went to a small con here and was able to snag Legacy Beachcomber for a relatively decent price. He's not bad. An upscaled version of the core class figure, but it works. The parakeet is fun too.

Re: 2024 Hauls
It finally arrived: The Green Lantern/Green Arrow Hard Traveling Heroes omnibus. And it doesn't just collect the Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams issues, it collects all the later issues that had that title, all the way to #123 when the series reverted to the Green Lantern title. And during the four years that the series had been cancelled, it appeared as a backup in the Flash, and those are also in this volume. It's essentially the first Bronze Age Green Lantern book, it's just not branded that way. I've read some of these issues before in various collections and have found some of the originals in the back issue bin, but having them all in one big volume is very nice.
