Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara announced planes for a two-part Justice League movie along with six other films.

The Justice League will be directed by Zack Snyder and broken into two parts with the first being released in 2017 and the second 2019.

The rest of the films are as follows:

Staring in 2016 will be The Suicide Squad. This is in discussion with 4 A-list stars according to the announcement.

In 2017 will be Justice League pt 1 and Wonder Woman.

2018 will bring us The Flash and Aquaman.

Update – we are told that The Flash has been cast, that he will be played by Ezra Miller (We Need To Talk About Kevin).

2019 gets Shazam (with Duane Johnson) and Justice League pt 2

And finally 2020 gets Cyborg and Green Lantern.

Maybe now we can get them to confirm some of the casting rumors that have been swirling around.

I can't believe they'd actually make a Cyborg movie. Seriously? And Suicide Squad? We'll see if either actually make it to the screen. I'll pass on Shazam because it's no doubt going to be the awful New 52 version rather than Captain Marvel, which I'd go see in a heartbeat.

As for the others, I'm interested. I just hope they keep Hal as Green Lantern.

You know what's been pretty good from DC though? That Flash show. I don't care for the stuff about Zoom going back in time to kill Barry's mom, but other than that, that show was pretty neat.

Cyborg's been a heavy-hitter in DC's lineup for a while, they don't push him for nothing. He's synonymous with New Teen Titans, which was very successful, and recognizable from that cartoon version people were apparently crazy about (I wasn't, but what do I know?). It's not totally out of nowhere.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with a recent very successful comic-book movie about a ragtag bunch of criminals. Absolutely nothing at all.

I'm torn on this. On the one hand, Duane The Rock Johnson as Black Adam is one of those perfect comic-book-castings that's been bandied about for ages, and it actually happening is amazing. On the other hand, yeah, New52 Shazam is pretty much the opposite of everything good about Billy. But a new movie version doesn't HAVE to adhere to the most recent portrayal, there's a chance we'll get something more in line with Captain Marvel's classic portrayal. I'll wait and see.

I've been watching Gotham myself, and have been enjoying it. Especially since the last couple episodes managed to chill the fuck out about the in-your-face cameos and foreshadowing and focus on being a solid police procedural that uses Gotham well as a backdrop. Also love the style of the thing, there were a couple shots in that latest episode that really drove home that "live action BTAS" look you can tell they want to go for.

That's Geoff John's origin from right before the New 52, so the show is just adapting the current story. Zoom went back in time and altered Barry's past, and then Barry caused Flashpoint by trying to fix it.

But otherwise, I agree. The Flash has been really good so far.

As a part of the current Justice League lineup, I understand his treatment, but Vic hasn't been written well in decades. DC's trying to push him by putting him in the Justice League, but he's still a B-lister. I'll be very surprised if that movie is made and if it is successful. But then Marvel is having success with just about any character they use in a movie, so maybe DC will manage it too. We'll see.

I liked Cyborg in New Teen Titans. He bores me stiff now. It was never his power set that interested me, but rather him as a person and how he interacted with Garth and Dick Grayson and Raven and the others from that group. No one's managed to do anything similar since, though admittedly I haven't read every appearance he's made, so I'm probably missing some appearances that would counter my perception. But he's certainly a flat character in Justice League these days.

I've been watching Gotham myself, and have been enjoying it. Especially since the last couple episodes managed to chill the fuck out about the in-your-face cameos and foreshadowing and focus on being a solid police procedural that uses Gotham well as a backdrop. Also love the style of the thing, there were a couple shots in that latest episode that really drove home that "live action BTAS" look you can tell they want to go for.

I keep meaning to try Gotham. The problem is, I quit watching commercial television years ago and got in the habit of just waiting for DVDs. I absolutely hate ads. They drive me crazy. I'm surprised that I"ve tuned in to the Flash for two weeks in a row now, given that.

Anyway.

My wife tells me Gotham is pretty good but I dunno, man. I might try it but my natural aversion to prequels has me leery. And if I'm gonna watch a Batman show, I'd kind of like to see Batman in it.

Yeah, I preferred angst-free Barry myself. Actually, I preferred Wally as Flash and didn't have much of an opinion on Barry, but I'll take a normal, two-parent household, happy character over another emo character any day. It is possible to be a superhero and have had a happy childhood, contrary to popular belief these days.

Oh man. That reminded me. It doesn't look like Iris has any brothers or sisters on this show. How's she supposed to have a nephew? I mean, I don't expect Wally to really show up or become Kid Flash, but dang.

The New 52 had a similar problem. Iris does have one known brother in the New 52, but they decided to make Wally's father another brother that just hasn't shown up in the comics yet, and wasn't ever mentioned before. I'd have to guess this series would do something similar if they ever introduce Wally.

Good to see Green Lantern is on their future plans. Not so sure about Suicide Squad and Shazam though. Cyborg, I can see going either way. If done right that could make for a really good movie

That's because Marvel's movies tend to be really good. DC's managed to swing and miss with both Green Lantern and Superman so far, their track record isn't nearly as strong.

(Honestly, I think DC should just forget about movies and concentrate on TV shows and cartoons, since that's where they've consistently kicked Marvel's ass.)

You could always downlizzle it and watch it that way, or DVR/record/whatever it and watch it later, skipping through the ads. I'm also given to understand that Netflix is going to get the show right after the first season is done airing, so there's that too.

The ads don't bug me too much, but I sit through football games every weekend, so I'm used to being bombarded with commercials. It actually worked out well this past Monday, since the Niners game was in the final quarter when the show came on, so I just switched to Gotham, then flipped back over to the game to keep up with it when the show went to commercial.

I'm pretty sure Jeff Geohns is incapable of writing a story where somebody doesn't get murdered. Usually violently. He also doesn't seem to understand how endings work, which is my big hang-up with him.

It's less a Batman show and more inspired by Gotham Central. Or you could just think of it as a Jim Gordon show, and that guy's story CARRIED Year One. Although watching lil' Bruce angst out in increasingly melodramatic ways each episode is amusing in itself. Seriously, the show is pretty good so far but the bits with Baby Bruce are easily the weakest parts of each episode.
