You can also watch all of season 3 on Nickelodeon's website, and they have have an ad that says they'll have the entire series available to watch this Friday.
It's odd that they've taken the series online rather than continuing to show it on the network. I don't think they handled advertising for this season very well. Book 4 as I understand it is still a go and is currently undergoing post-production work, but sounds like it will be exclusively online and could be the final season of the series.

Do we know what...direction they're going with Book 4? I rather enjoyed most of Book 3 (particularly the more grounded and real-world style it went with after the overtly spiritual Book 2) right up until the ending, when they seemed to finally go through with what they'd been threatening to do since mid-Book 2: Push Korra to the side and promote Jinora to main character. It's especially frustrating, since a lot of the theming and storytelling early in Book 3 seemed to be pushing the idea that "The old show is over, this is a new thing, get used to it" only to seemingly retract on that by the end and go "No, here's Aang's granddaughter all tattooed-up to look like him, we'll have more kid-airbending adventures next season". Maybe I'm being paranoid about this, and Korra will be out of her wheelchair and back to kicking ass by the beginning of Book 4, but I dunno; the ending really seemed to be trying to sell the idea that we were supposed to move on from Korra and be happy Jinora might become the new main character. Particularly since I know Korra and her pals still haven't become very popular with the more...militant elements of the fandom still dedicated to the original series. It was just a very frustrating note to end on.
I'd previously heard that they wanted this series to be six 'Books' total, though those plans might have changed since.

Not many details have been released thus far that I've seen, but Michael Dante DiMartino posted on his tumblr that they were recording Korra fight scenes for book 4 some time ago. So I think Korra will be back on her feet for book 4. I'd also doubt Jinora will take over as the main character. I think the ceremony was just meant to be a bit of an endcap to the season, seeing as they started Book 3 by introducing the new Airbenders to rebuild the Air Nation.BWprowl wrote:Do we know what...direction they're going with Book 4?

I never liked the original avatar so I didn't follow this show, but did it really get such terrible ratings that they are showing it online exclusively?

There's more to it than that from what I understand... Originally season 3 wasn't scheduled to air until this Fall but the Mexican branch of Nickelodeon's website accidentally leaked several episodes online. In response to contain that leak, Nickelodeon decided to rush the show onto the air with less than a weeks notice to the audience. So surprise surprise, with hardly any marketing the ratings tanked. However, according to the shows creators at SDCC, the numbers had actually grown on digital venues so the decision was made to move the show completely online instead.Almighty Unicron wrote:I never liked the original avatar so I didn't follow this show, but did it really get such terrible ratings that they are showing it online exclusively?

That seems stupid. I mean it's still a children's-targeted show, right? When TFA was airing first in Dubai and Canada before it came out in the US, Cartoon Network didn't do anything, because the target audience is still kids at home who don't search their shows up on the internet.Sparky Prime wrote:There's more to it than that from what I understand... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend ... a_(Book_3) season 3 was on nick from june 27 to July 25 but the eps declined in ratings. So eps 9 to 13 went exclusively online.
I tried Nickelodeon's website and it was a royal pain and super weird to nagivate through. Rather watch Korra season 3 on Youtube or GoGoAnime.com.
Korra isn't a kids show like TFA was. Legend of Korra's,target viewers is teenagers and adults.
Highly doubt Korra will be wheel chair bound forever or all through season 4. Korra is healing and will be out of the wheel chair to fight some epic fights in season 4.
I saw all 13 episodes of Korra season 3 and I gotta say it was by far the worse season of them all.
Hoping season 4 of Korra is better than Season 3.
Think it might have been better to do another Airbender series,Where viewers get to see further adventures of Aang and his friends. Perhaps each series could have shown 15 to 20 years going by. with season 4 showing Aang as a old many on his last adventure, then dying and seeing the Avatar spirit being reborn into Korra as a baby. Still think doing this Aang further adventures series after Korra season 4 ends is a good idea that will do great in ratings.

They have continued the adventures of Aang and friends with The Promise, The Search and The Rift graphic novels.Tigermegatron wrote:Think it might have been better to do another Airbender series,Where viewers get to see further adventures of Aang and his friends.
Personally, I really enjoyed this season of Korra. I liked that we saw the return of the Airbender Nation and finding out why exactly Korra wasn't allowed to travel the world when she was learning to master the elements like the past Avatars have. Also really neat to see some new types of bending from different elements we'd never seen before.

Re: Legend of Korra,Season 3 is on GOGOAnime.
Well that's good to know. Like I said, I might've just been being paranoid, since they've been hardcore pushing since Book 2 how wonderful and perfect Jinora is and this season ended with Korra crippled and borderline catatonic while everyone went on and on about how Jinora would be the one to PROTECT US ALL. I'm still a little concerned about where they're going with this, but it's good to know Korra likely won't be sidelined.Sparky Prime wrote:Not many details have been released thus far that I've seen, but Michael Dante DiMartino posted on his tumblr that they were recording Korra fight scenes for book 4 some time ago. Overall though, put me down as one who liked Book 3. Book 2 got a little big for itself at times (though the Avatar Wan two-parter was pretty much worth that whole season), this was a return to form that built off the interesting changes to the status quo from the end of the last season (though the integration of spirits could have been explored a bit more, hope they don't just forget about that development moving forward). Zaheer was a strong villain (especially compared to Unalaq, who I felt was lackluster) with some reasonably interesting bits (I wish they'd gone more into how deep he was into Air Nomad philosophy, apparently before he even became an Airbender).
Maybe moving online will give them more freedom from some of the constraints they were obviously working against this season, and they'll be able to show all the on-screen asphyxiation and exploding heads they want
Spoiler
, not to mention getting Korra and Asami together, as they're clearly meant to.
