Target not meeting street date for TF4 in MA

Money, violence, sex, computer graphics, scatalogical humor, racism, robots designed to be rednecks but given European accents, and maybe another sequel to the saga... what's not to love? TF m1, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon and now Age of Extinction.

Target not meeting street date for TF4 in MA

Post by Dominic »

Lewis spent several hours looking for toys yesterday. Out of 4 Targets he checked, not a single one had any TF4 figures. (There was some peripheral merchandise.)

Not sure about the Targets in my area.

The hell is this in the trading forum? Shouldn't it be in the Movies forum?

Anyway, none of the Targets in my area showed any sign of of AoE toys, and all Wal-Mart had was a sheet put up telling clerks how to arrange the toys once they DID put them out. TRUs fucking delivered though, and I picked up the two I wanted from the first wave, Slug and Scorn, plus G1 cosplay Optimus, since he appealed to me there (the idea's too cute for me to pass up, really).

Wasn't aware the 1-Step Changers were such lil' guys, I might have to pick up Grimlock, he looks adorable. It helps that Movie Grimlock is on the same level now that Movie Starscream was for me, where I've fallen in love with the design so much that I kinda want to buy several different versions of it. Might snag the Voyager.

Maybe he has movie toys and wants to exchange them for non movie? I dunno.

I saw the AoE stuff at Toys R Us yesterday and... yeah, I'm gonna be passing on all of this.

Probably.

Ok, I'll admit, I do like the look of voyager Prime's alt mode, and I thought of that at the store, but then my next immediate thought was "Yeah but then I still just have a movie Prime". Maybe if there were more changes to the bot mode I'd be sold, but as of now, skip.

We no longer have a dedicated "sightings" forum. I figured this was the best place for a sightings thread (as the sub-forum relates to commerce).

If Anderson or JT want to move this thread to another part of the board, they can do so.

This isn't' a sighting anyway, it's an anti-sighting. I'll move it.

Hasbro did something really dumb with this street date - WM and Target don't have product teams for this type of reset working on weekends, if it's not in by Friday it's not in for the weekend. Oops!

TRU however decided they wanted our business and put up product... I didn't end up buying anything though.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

I tried to buy some new product, but I know myself too well. Movie toys are cool for awhile, but for the most part I more rent the thdinosaur than buy them. I get all excited for the things, then they just end up fueling the inevitable purges I occasionally do. I think right now I have less than ten movie toys...Prime and Megatron from DORM, Skyhammer, Bludgeon, Sunspot...maybe Breakdown and Chopsaw, and Leader Starscream.

That said, they have me right by my weak spot with this line. God damn dinosaur TFs and specifically new Grimlocks. And most of those dinos are in really bright colors that are really appealing. So they might get me a fourth time.

Target stores not wanting to put out newer TF Movie toys on the official release date is nothing new,This same scenario happened during DOTM.

Target Stores employees & managers are convinced that all adults who buy toys are scalpers. This is why they put out the newer TF toy lines a few weeks or month after the official street release dates set by Hasbro.

I went to my local target on last Saturday on the 17th which was the official release date for the TF4 toys. There wasn't a single TF4 toy on the shelves or pegs. Instead they still had older TF toys on shelves/pegs with the clearance stickers on the pegs/shelves.

I asked the target store employee why there were no TF4 toys on the Target store pegs/shelves. He said the section was full already,so he could't put out newer product yet. I asked the employee to check his hand held computer to see if there was any TF4 toys in the back. It was confirmed their was newer TF4 toys in the back stock room but he said it was illegial to take them & place them on the pegs/shelves until he everything older was sold on the pegs/shelves.

At that Taret,Mysteriously the cases of TF4 Voyagers were not in the back stock room. So I can only assume store employees bought them beforehand & sold them all on ebay weeks age for a profit. Target stores had weeks/months to stock up on TF4 toys before the official street release date. So it's odd target stores wouldn't get any orders in of the TF4 voyagers.

When I went to my 2 local Walmarts on the 17th,They did have some TF4 toys out on shelves. Sadly it was all of the TF4 toys aimed for toddlers. I didn't see any of the more complicated/more adult themed TF4 Generations Movie toys like not seeing any Deluxes,No Voyagers & no Leaders. So I could only assume the Store employees scalpers grabbed all of the higher age themed TF4 toys weeks ago & scalped them on Ebay for a profit.

With TF toys being one of the top hottest boys actions figures on Ebay. It gets worse for buyers who aren't Scalpers to find newer TF toys in stores these days.

I didn't bother going to my local TRU,as it's 37 miles one way & a round trip is 74 miles. I just don't have the gas money to travel to TRU.
I'm sure TRU would of had more than Target & walmart had. But with TRU stores now charging 20% more in stores & 20% less on the TRU.Com site. It's kinda a ripp off going to the TRU.com store.
