October Hauls

Hooray, October already. God damn, Christmas is creeping up. I want my 2008 back.
Sucked it up and got Incredible Hulk Movie Abomination today, regular flavour. I'd been debating getting him for some time, since the figure's got some slick detailing and the design's kinda cool. Had been waiting for the niftier one with pop-out back spikes, but caved since there was a sale.
Actual figure's a mixed bag. Detailing is indeed very very cool, Hasbro have been amping up the movie stuff of late, it's a good sculpt. Thick and veiny, bones protruding from the skin, real stretched look. He's pretty grotesque. Especially dig the neck's veins, the way the feet evoke the classic Abomination, and the spiked knuckles. Colours are blah, though, very little paint in general. There's red over the bone areas with bone-white highlights, and some weakass green spray ops, plus a few more bony parts, but this thing's got details out the wazoo (Hell, if he had a wazoo, it'd be detailed too), really needed a wash to highlight it. I expected more paint apps after Iron Man.
Few other problems too. The accessory's a write-off, it's a big steel pipe that's bent and comes apart. No action feature, which is good, but he used a heavy chain in the (average) movie, that would've been a vastly cooler inclusion here. The other problem is articulation. Mine has some loose joints, which aren't a deal-breaker, but do annoy. The real problem is in the range of motion for the knees, neck, and elbows, which are pretty limited. His biceps can actually rotate independently from his lower arms, which helps some thanks to their sculpting, but doesn't fix the issue, he's kinda static. The neck also swivels weirdly, not allowing for too many poses.
Finally, a criticism of the design itself: I appreciate the need to make him less of a gargoyle in blue shorts, but damnit, the ears. Story goes that they thought people would question why Hulk didn't bite them off. Firstly, that's ridiculous, why would anyone randomly assume Hulk would bite off his ears? Is Hulk know for ear-biting and no-one told me? Secondly, if Hulk DID bite off his ears, that'd make for a fun fight. Thirdly, I find it pretty silly that anyone would question realism of that variety in a movie about people mutating into giant green things. The figure feels like he was originally designed to have said ears, and is rather unbalanced without them. I used some poster putty to give him some and see how it looks, much better.
So, overall, an average experience, and I'm glad I got him on sale. Even putty ears help, heh, and he's a decent display fig at work. May still end up getting the spikey spined version when it finally makes it here.
EDIT: Awesome, we can sticky for a set number of days. That'll make the haul topics neat.
