I think they'll be G-1 homages toys in the TF4 toy line.

Money, violence, sex, computer graphics, scatalogical humor, racism, robots designed to be rednecks but given European accents, and maybe another sequel to the saga... what's not to love? TF m1, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon and now Age of Extinction.

Most on-line TF fans are forgeting/ignoring all the G-1 homage toys that will be in the TF4 toy line.

My guess is the TF4 toy lines has the 30th anniversary secondary banner on the toys boxes/packages. similar to Takara when they had their various anniversaries numbered logos/banners on the current year TF toys lines. I suspect the TF4 toy line will have some G-1 homages.

If their are a few TF4 dinobots & Stunticons/Menasor toys,These will make decent G-1 homage toys. If On-line fans can accept the FOC Generations toys as G-1 homage toys,Then I don't see why some TF4 toys can't be accepted as G-1 homage toys.

As most know,The FOC Voyager Grimlock toy is a horrible mold in sculpt & engineering. I suspect a TF4 Grimlock toy will be leaps & bounds better than the FOC Grimlock toy. About the only thing this toy has going for it,is the proper decent size scale. I'd rate the Classics 1.0 Grimlock Deluxe toy as a better sculpted & engineered toy compared to the inferior FOC Grimlock sculpted+engineered toy.

I envision the TF4 Dinobots CGI/toys looking like the Bandai 1990's Dinozone/Dinozaurs toys.

This thread is so much utter nonsense that I had to change the title. "They'll be G-1 homages toys in the TF4 toy line." is your GUESS and it's backed up by not a damned thing.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

If on-line fans can accept FOC toys as 1980's G-1 homage toys That are clearly in a different G-1 alternate universe. I don't see what the big deal is of accepting some TF4 (that exist in a different G-1 alternate universe) toys ALSO as 1980's G-1 homages.

IMHO,Since that TFA & FOC Grimlock toys were so horrible,The chances seem high that TF4 grimlocks & Snarl's toys will be a much better 1980's homage toy. TFA snarl's toy always seemed like a Simplified toddler friendly version based off the designs of that BWNeo Triceratops mold that was released by hasbro as a walmart Snarl toy. I can certainly see the OTHER four TF4 Dinobots being better 1980'S G-1 Homage toys compared to what TFA/FOC Grimlock & TFA snarl were.

IMHO,If TF4 has Five Stunticons with individual robots modes that transform into cars & trucks then merge to form Menasor,This right here will be a far better 1980's G-1 homage toys than that awful/mediocre FOC Combaticons/Bruticus was.

TF4's toy line will have over 40+ TF toys in different sizes,Hasbro is clearly going to design some of These movie CGI/toys for TF4 as some decent 1980's G-1 homage toys to help celebrate the 30th TF toy/media anniversary in 2014. I'm even guessing the 30th anniversary banner is on the TF4 toys packages as a secondary smaller banner.

Difference being, the live actions films have an aesthetic style all its own while WFC/FOC is clearly much more based on the designs of G1. I mean, you could call ROTF Devastator a homage to G1 Devastator, but because of the radically different style of the movies, it's pretty much in name only.

I can kind of see Deathy's point though: All of the previous movie lines have had repaints in them that were G1 homages or recolors. Like for 2007 when they repainted Jazz and Starscream in their G1 colors or in ROTF where we got Skywarp and Ramjet. I don't recall any for DOTM, but I paid about as much attention to that line an elephant pays to a gnat on it's ass. Actually, now that I think about it, I recall there being a red repaint of Ironhide. So yeah, it's really not unreasonable to expect that the there will be some G1 repaints in the Trans4mers toyline.

And there's mild precedent with GI Joe Retaliation's toyline...although that may be a case of Hasbro having literally no other way to get those toys out.

Saying there will be G1 homages is like saying Optimus will be in it. It's just a given.

There will always be homage toys like that. Every movie line has had them. But there is the point that because they have the movie aesthetics, it makes it hard for those figures to really blend-in with other TF toylines, like Generations where the characters are actually styled after the G1 versions. I think that's why a lot of fans really don't accept the movie line's homages.

Yeah, but there's enough precedent set now that Hasbro could seriously just put Generations toys in the Movie toyline, and who would bitch? They're already doing it with GI Joe, just look at this:
http://generalsjoes.com/reviews/2013/re ... ander.html

And they already halfway did it with the Yellowbox/HFTD/RTS line. I mean, if you look at that toyline from a purely packaging perspective, we're supposed to believe G1 Jazz and Tracks just hang out with Movie Ironhide every day.

06,I agree...

Hasbro already did this in 2010. Hasbro estimated USA retail stores would order more of anything if it was put in the movie-verse styled packaging. this is why their are so many blatant generations homage looking toys under the yellowbox label.
