September Hauls

Post by Starath »

Wow, I got to make the topic for once. xD

Last week I picked up:

Robot Heroes Galvatron/Sunstreaker and Blitzwing/Hound.

Got to go shopping this Saturday, hooray. I spent too much money, but I was with a friend, so oh well. Worth noting:

Freakazoid season 1 DVD
Sorcerer Hunters manga #3 and 6
Darkwing Duck shirt
A TF knock-off of Mirage-- the brand name is "Android Modern Super Change". Found it at the dollar store. It's absolutely hilarious. The package proudly declares Speedy transmutation! Every styles fully wonderfull! Special designed for children!

(Yes, that's how they spelled "wonderful".)

My friend and I just sat on the floor laughing at the TF knock-offs. There was a red version of Mirage too, which she bought. There were some dinosaur ones too, which were neat, except that the dinosaur heads were put in the worst possible place while transformed (i.e. lower torso.... *cough*). Later I read the tags on the packaging and there is a warning the toy was painted with lead paint, so I'm keeping Knock-it-Off Mirage in his box.

Still on the hunt for TFA Blitzwing......

xD Actually, Darkwing Duck was my very first fandom. I ran around school in first grade believing I was the ducky caped crusader.

I had a big imagination even back then.

I've been after his shirt for months, but never found it til now.

I AM THE TERROR THAT FLAPS IN THE NIGHT!

And a Transfan. =D

Oh, and HI GOMESS!

Hi Star. I find it funny that I was raised on MANIME (must be written in caps) like Saint Seiya and Fist of the North Star, and yet turned out as PASSIONATE and EMOTIONAL as I did. ...Wait, that's not surprising. I remember DW, too. Especially some nemesis of his, possibly an alternate universe version, called DarkWarrior Duck...? And his nifty gun. I tried to make a list of all the things it shot (I made a LOT of lists when I was a kid. My Saint Seiya one was nuts, because I organised everyone into ranks and detailed ALL their techniques).

Huh. Hauls. Well, I've been "reliably" "informed" that I'll be finally getting my goshdarn "degree" sometime over the next FORTNIGHT... So I guess that's a haul. I was actually told the board would be held on 9/11, which naturally didn't fill me with enthusiasm.

If some admin error stops me from being able to call myself a graduate in an interview AGAIN, someone is gonna "die".

Muhh. I believe the first was Saturday, right? *looks* Oh, no, so this should be in August, but whatever.

In that case:

-Steeler w/Armadillo Tank vs. Serpentor w/Stupid Crazy Flying Snake Thing. The Serpentor figure is even worse than the single-card release, but I bought this for Steeler. O13, yo.
-Trigun manga, second volume. The original series was three volumes, so they split the middle one up and published it as two hugeass ones. Now I've got the second. This is where Wolfwood comes in, and Wolfwood is insanely badass.
-Batman: The Killing Joke deluxe edition. I spend too much money.
-A pretzel from the mall! I love mall pretzels.
-A Grimlock boxart shirt. The front has Grimlock's boxart (hence the name) and a cool stripey G2-esque stripey pattern. The back has "Me, Grimlock kick butt!" which 86 ewwed at, but I wore it with the jacket (as I always do) so it's cool. It was half off, which is how I justified it.
-Saw The Dark Knight again. It's the only movie I've ever seen in theaters twice, and it was Good.
-Shame and sorrow. I spend too much money.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

August 28th Birthday haul:
Playstation 3
Biiiiig Millennium Falcon
GTA4
$100 check
E-Vex video goggles
Swiss army knife

August 29th Ikea haul to hold the birthday stuff I got:
Billy bookshelf, 15" wide, white - $35
Lerburg 2' x 2' metal table, off-black - $15, mesh middle and top simplifies dusting, and the Falcon looks great on it.

August 31st Fry's Electronics haul:
8gb Patriot Flash Drive - $35 plus a $10 mail-in rebate, very unsexy but narrow and clean design
X Kites biplane kite - we actually bought 3 kites and 2 pocket kites, as well as 2 kite winder handles, but this was the only kite that would fly in the weak Labor day wind.

Darkwing Duck kicks ass. Sideshow is distributing a new Darkwing Duck maquette which they had on display at SDCC and it was the only Disney item in the booth that got my attention.

Plus, now I have 2 Alan Moore graphic novels that were reproduced and sold due to their motion pictures, that's gotta piss him off pretty good.
I'm seeing Watchmen 'everywhere' now, and tons of people appear to be buying it. This can only be a 'good' thing. And unlike V For Vendetta, Watchmen doesn't really have any big iconic mask symbol that 4chan can rip off.
Instead it has the smiley face, but that's a trademarked and copyrighted image, so we'll see. Still, I didn't know 4chan had ripped off the Guy Fawkes mask from V, that sucks.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?
