Apparently RAPED MY CHILDHOOD = Guaranteed sales!

But man, so many fans have sworn off the brand! They aren't going to give Hasbro their money if they aren't going to cater to their specific wants! So without the fans, who could possibly be buying all these toys? It's not like there's some OTHER demographic these things could be aimed at!

Oh yeah, also, suck it TFPrime! Animated wins again!

This is revenues, that includes non-toy sales like ancillary merch and, more importantly, a piece of the popular films' box office take, so it's not all smiles and sunshine.

On the other hand, TFA outshot Prime, and TFP barely outshot a no-entertainment year, so eat a dick TFP.

Animated's success can be attributed to its show actually being good enough that most people wanted at least a few toys, even if the toys themselves were lackluster. I didn't like it at first, but over the second season I started to like it. And then the third season sucked because it screwed around so much.

Gut feeling: The fact that the toys visibly shrank last year and had more obvious flaws in package at the same time that the prices went up is what hurt sales.

Deluxes are running damn near $20 before tax now. People are spending more money per toy, but are buying fewer toys. Hasbro's per item profit is indisputably up. But, they are taking a beating in terms of volume. (Imagine being a parent, or better yet a kid, and spending $20 for one of the newer Deluxe toys. As a casual buyer, would you even consider buying other TFs?)


JT is on to something. "Transformers: Prime" is part of a full-spectrum franchise. The media content covers television, comics, novels *and* video games. And, according to Hasbro's chart, it barely surpassed a year with no new television series. That same year was characterized by poor distribution, especially leading up to quarter 4.

-once spent about 20 minutes trying to convince himself to buy FoC Jazz to the point of saying, "if you spend this $20, you will have $20 less to spend on fast food that you should not be eating".

You'll either be able to get FOC Jazz on clearance, or cheap off another collector who realizes they pissed away their money on a very flawed figure.

I just realized, this brand was doing about a hundred million in sales before the movies, that's not nuthin'. Sure they're the stubby little pipsqueaks at the left, but considering how terribly-marketed the UT was and how shoddy the support entertainment was, a hundred mil is not bad for a line that many felt was out of gas.

The thing that asses me off about this is that the new waves that're hitting now--Magnus and Sideswipe and stuff--have extra, huge-ass weapons that the original guys didn't have! The Wreckers repaints have entire extra weapons--not just 'replaced' weapons, mind you, like they don't come with Bruticus's, they do! They just have 'extra' weapons! It's openly saying, "These toys have more stuff for no reason."

The price point obviously has had some growing pains for a bit...but now we see the IDW-inspired Deluxes for next year, and they look awesome, so what the hell?
