G-1 Season 5,Tommy Kennedy found & interviewed.
http://digestmybrain.wordpress.com/2013 ... on-jansen/
Just a few random side notes after reading the interview.
1- The chances of the guy appearing at Botcon 2013 is so freaking high.
2- Wow this guy aged so badly. He looks like he's in his early 50's or in his late 40's. His physical form is so out of shape coupled with the sun damage his face recieved. about the only thing he's got going for him is his nice full head of hair. in the interview,Tommy says he was born in 1975,so that put him at around 37 Years of age. He definately does not look like a 37 year old,he looks 10+years older than that.
3- Wouldn't it be funny if this guy was a internet scam artist & was pretending to be tommy kennedy. if it went as far as Fun fub paying for this faker's botcon appearance, hotel fees, food, then he got exposed as a faker. This would be the funniest thing ever.
3a-Sadly this guy looks just like Tommy Kennedy. So the chances of him being a faker is narrow & slim.
4- I wonder what ever happened to that huge wooden/plastic puppet/thing/whatever PMOP from season 5? Does hasbro have it? did it get destroyed? is it sitting in some fans collection? did it get stolen or misplaced? love to see this thing make the Botcon convention prop rounds every year (like the 1986 Unicrons proto types sometimes do) if it still exist & someone owns it.

You never watched "Season 5" of G1? It featured scattered episodes from earlier seasons, with the framing device being that Optimus Prime (played by a hilarious/horrifying puppet) was telling stories about The Transformers' adventures to this kid named Tommy Kennedy, played by Jason Jansen (or is it Janson?). Anyway, TF fandom being what it is, had been trying for DECADES to track this guy down so they could interview him for sites/wikis and so forth for the sake of completism, but he was mysteriously difficult to find, which of course only added to the allure of the mysteriously disappeared Jason Jansen.
With him finally turned up and that adventure over, I guess the one big grail left to track down is one of those elusive Hot Rod Go-Kart prizes (which, given his love for Hot Rod, I would bet Tigger here would murder a hobo for).
EDIT: Turns out the other thing was that the Tommy Kennedy segments of Season 5 were still in rights limbo (if people, uh, ever wanted those things on DVD?) due to no one being able to find Jason Jansen to get legal clearance for them, so that's another reason this matters.

The only time I ever saw this kid (that I can recall) was when the local station showed the 86 animated Transformers movie, and they had a segment with Optimus and Tommy discussing how a really big bully beat him up at school. He asked what was the biggest threat the Autobots ever faced, and Optimus starts to reminesce about Unicron. Fun stuff.
If not for that, I'd have no idea who the kid was either. I don't think I ever saw any actual epsiodes with him and Op doing the intro. I remember the G2 cybercube though.

Yeah, I never saw that. The only thing I ever saw after season 4 was the that G2 space cube retelling of G1.

I'm only into TF toys that Transform & are considered action figures.BWprowl wrote: With him finally turned up and that adventure over, I guess the one big grail left to track down is one of those elusive Hot Rod Go-Kart prizes (which, given his love for Hot Rod, I would bet Tigger here would murder a hobo for).

Consider yourself lucky for not watching the horror of season 5. It took corny & cheesy to the next level. I remember Tommy kept asking optimus to be turned into a Headmaster. Then at the end of season 5 Tommy thought he wasn't up to the task of being turned into a Headmaster.andersonh1 wrote:The only time I ever saw this kid (that I can recall) was when the local station showed the 86 animated Transformers movie, and they had a segment with Optimus and Tommy discussing how a really big bully beat him up at school. I remember PMOP would fly in & out using his jet boosters.
Back then I always thought Season 5 was their to buy hasbro some time to create a powermasters type TF cartoon series.

So there really is no true season 5 in the sense of new actual episodes, it's just reruns of 1-4 like the cyberspace cube for G2?

Aged badly? He looks exactly his age, mid-30s. Weird. He's not wrinkly around the eyes or mouth, doesn't seem to have deep nasal folds, no hanging jowls. What a curious and totally off-base thing to say about a stranger.
Anyway, it's an interesting read, he seems like a pretty together guy. I went to grade school with actor kids like this, he seems at least as well-adjusted as them, and used his kid work to become something in the adult world.
I don't know why, but I hadn't pictured anybody in Optimus' head puppeteering it, it's so big it just seemed somehow mechanical was the only way.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

From the pic i see,He has severe sun damage on his face & the pic was taken in the Winter. He has severe wrinkles in the forehead, around his eyes & all over his face. his face skin is all rough & looks like it's 50 years old. the guy appears to be over weight & has a big head. he probably never works out in a gym, eats fat grease type foods. THE GUY LOOKS LIKE HE'S IN HIS LATE 40'S/EARLY 50'S.JediTricks wrote:Aged badly? He looks exactly his age, mid-30s. Weird. HE DOES NOT LOOK 37.
