My comments: I was optimistic that Takara would recolor the FOC Combaticons in 1985 Generation one colors. With vortex being medium gray. Blastoff being dark chocolate colors. Swindle looking like his SDCC colors. Brawl being in his SDCC colors. Onslaught being his 1985 colors which were blue, black, grey & orange/gold stickers high light pattern colors.
Brawl got ruined by having that huge blob of pink paint thrown on the top of the tank turrent near the back. then that huge pink high light line of factory paint near the front of the tank turrent further ruins this toy.
This FOC Bruticus set might have been saved had Takara colored Vortex in his 1985 medium grey colors. those Takara FOC Vortex colors look worse than hasbro's SDCC Vortex colors.
Wow these look terrible, hopefully these are early test shot's hand painted samples. Because judging from the amazon Japan Takara pics, these toys look like the were molded in non-colored plastic, then were all factory painted in sparkle painted colors.
The paint jobs look so bad, they look like a ebay customizer with mediocre painting talent did them. whats up with all the bubbles, ridges, marks in the factory paint. was takara trying to go for the battle worn look or painted steele look?
Then their is the over excessive shine on these toys. hopefully they didn't use that vacumized metalic paint. because these things will chip worse than BW Transmetals toys.
That Takara FOC Insecticon looks horrible with all the extra added gold highlight colors. Takara FOC Ultra Magnus blue colors are too light, ultra magnus needs darker blue colors, those light blue colors are 1985 hotspots. Takara FOC Starscream & Sideswipe look decent.
Odd how Takara isn't releasing a FOC Shockwave. probably because Takara is using the shockwave mold for their Japanese AM-Prime toy line. Takara is releasing the recolor+retooled version of the mold.
Lastly the over use of the high lights colors purple & pink all over the alt modes wheels/rims & line detailing all over the toys looks horrid. Yeah I know these pink or purple highlight colors are suspose to represent energon leaking out of the battle damage robots, however it was done badly.
No,thanks,I'll be buying the USA Hasbro versions because their colored nicer/normal & they'll be 75% than takara's prices
Takara finally release the colors for their FOC Combaticons

Er, no it's not? It's supposed to be lights, and they're right on the game designs:Lastly the over use of the high lights colors purple & pink all over the alt modes wheels/rims & line detailing all over the toys looks horrid. Anyway, the Bruticus colours are great. The difference between Vortex and Blastoff are finally apparent and good.
As for Ultra Magnus: The original toy was indeed the exact same light blue colour as Hot Spot. He might've been darker in the cartoon, but in the comics and the toys, he was that light blue colour, and honestly I can't see Magnus in any other shade. Even the recent MTMTE comics are leaning towards that.
Re: Takara finally release the colors for their FOC Combatic
Those Combaticons are almost tempting. They look more like the game, and they look better all around. (Of course, given import prices, I may not necessarily want to buy them.)
Kickback does not look bad. I am not drooling for one. But, I might pick one up.
If Starscream does not have any sloppy design/execution elements, I will likely get one. Of course, if the current wave of FoC figures (Optimus, Jazz, and Shockwave) are anything to go by, I will be given more than enough reason to skip Starscream as well.
Sideswipe looks a bit better than Jazz. But, we already know enough about that mould to call it now. Easy skip. Ditto for Ultra Magnus and Airraid.
Additionally, Airraid just...I dunno. I does not seem to "work".
Soundwave looks interesting. But, similar to my concern about Starscream, I want to know if it has any obviously lazy design elements. (And, Laserbeak has possibilities for being recoloured as Garboil.)

Re: Takara finally release the colors for their FOC Combatic
I still can't get over that we've now got 5 different color variations for the FOC Vortex mold & they all look terrible in colors. not one of them is in 1985 Vortex medium grey colors.
If I ever find the mass release version of FOC deluxe Vortex. I'll try to change the colors to medium grey. all I've gotta do is buy a box of the "RIT" powder box grey color dye. I'd had mild success with changing a TF toys color using "RIT" Powder dye.
For those keeping score, here are the Five different color variations of the FOC Combaticons toy molds thus far.
1- SDCC FOC Combaticons.
2- Mass release FOC Combaticons.
3- Amazon.com & BBTS G-2 FOC Combaticons.
4- 2013 Wreckers Toys using the Combaticons molds.
5- Takara Japanese FOC Combaticons.
