MP Robotech macross/toynami make decent Stand in new age homage Jetfire toys.

Similar to 3rd party not-TF toys making great stand in's for TF toys hasbro & Takara didn't create.

Sure the decals & high light colors are different,but so are the 3rd party Not-TF toys.

as far as the 1985 Jetfire toy goes. hasbro & Takara don't own the mold nor design. so we'll never see a MP nor generations jetfire toy that comes close to those Bandia Robotech valkyre toy design in both modes.

various MP Jetfire valkyre toys have already been made by macross,toynami,etc..

I own both the Toynami MP Robotech valkyre skull leader with the jetfire head. and I own the MP Macross valkyre with the jetfire head.

It boggles my mind why most TF fans don't consider the MP Robotech valkyre's as decent stand in jetfire toys. but they consider those 3rd party TF toys as decent stand in transformers toys. both are clearly being made by different companies.

what's next not considering beastwars & titanium 6 inch as true transformers toys. because beastwars had the Kenner logo on the BW packages. while Titanium had the Galoob logo on the boxes.

I'd be fine with a good new Valkyrie toy if I could paint it up easily (my skills are...not that good) and also if the good ones weren't $100.

Transfans probably don't concern themselves with getting a Macross Valkyrie figure of some sort as a stand-in for Jetfire because Hasbro made a perfectly great Classics Jetfire in the...Classics line. Why drop $waytoomuch on a Valkyrie that looks like that one toy Jetfire had that his cartoon model wasn't based on when twenty bucks got you an official Transformers Jetfire toy that worked great as a Jetfire and a Skyfire?

Well, for my money, Classics Jetfire is, at best, one of those "servicable" toys. The kind where you go, "Fuck it, it'll do, and it's the best one we'll probably ever get from Hasbro, so." I was really excited to get him and, like I said, it's probably the closest thing we'll ever get. And yeah, you're right, it looks great as Cartoon Skyfire Slightly Masquerading As Jetfire. (And he even appears in Stormbringer like that!)

The thing is, though, some of us are waaaay more partial to the Valkyrie Jetfire design. I 'hate' Skyfire's design. Absolutely loathe it. Because it takes ALL of the smooth, sleek, futuristic sexiness out of the Valk design and replaces it with big, clunky-ass Dery chunks. Skyfire might blend in more with the Season 1 Autobots, but it's Jetfire 'lack' of that that is exactly the reason I'm attracted to the design. In fact, if he just straight up looked like the Valkyrie in the cartoon, I'm sure I wouldn't even like him half as much.

Because half of Jetfire's appeal is his obscurity! Sure, he was in the cartoon, but he barely looked like that. In that case, Jetfire ends up in the ranks of dudes like Roadbuster and Whirl and the Deluxe Insecticons; super-obscure dudes who got barely any media appearances and look completely unlike most other Transformers.

That, and Classics Jetfire is too damn white. He needs way more red! But, again, that's because to me, Jetfire is white with shitloads of red parts due to the extra SuperValk armour. And I realize that nobody has released that armour for new official Valks in red, because it never showed up that way in the series, so even by buying one of the Valks, I wouldn't get that part. But the thing stands.

One day I'll just pony down $100+ and get a mint, real Jetfire, and that'll be the end of it.

The classics figure is ok, but not only is it chunky, it's got a pretty lazy transformation, leaving the arms just sitting outside the fuselage - that's the sort of thing that makes me a little standoffish with some TF designs, that feeling of someone just phoning in an element of a pretty crucial and not inexpensive figure. That said, most Macross Super Valkyries are either fragile or expensive or both - mainly because the license-holder of the minute knows they can get away with screwing over that niche audience yet again because there's always demand.

I picked up this at Botcon I think last year, but it may have been '09: http://www.toywiz.com/royfockerdeluxe.html It's a nice piece, and was $20 out the door, but that's all it would be worth really because it's small and a few of the parts are fragile and the design isn't super stable. But Toynami's "Masterpiece" version goes for over $100 and it's got a lot of flaws.

Yeah, see, it's the 5 inch bit that turns me off. Jetfire's a Big Dude. Like, he should be as tall as G1 Shockwave is. He needs to tower over Prime.

I agree if buyers wants a 1985 jetfire toy updated new toy. then the best route is the MP Robotech valkyries that toynami & macross created.

I didn't buy the figure to be Jetfire, I bought it to be Roy Focker's Super Valkyrie.

I agree to a certain extent, although the vehicle mode can at least argue it's a Cybertronian mode.
