The TF Toys place holders thread......

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

The TF Toys place holders thread......

Post by Tigermegatron »

Defination of a TF toy place holder: When "one" buy a New mold TF character toy, they mildly like for a short term period. in hopes of giving it away or selling it when a better new TF character toy they like much better gets created & released.

I've got a few of these,I'm wondering if others have them as well.

I'll list a few TF Place holder toys I have & what I plan to replace them with:
(1)Place holder Alternators Sunstreak, place holders classics 2.0 deluxe sunstreak, place holder classcis 2.0 deluxe sideswipe. replacement, when I get the MP-12 Sideswipe & MP Sunstreaker,I plan to get rid of my place holders.

(2)Place holder,Classics 2.0 deluxe Galvatron,If a better toy version comes out then I replace this place holder. I'm hoping for a MP Galvatron.

You are the only person here who does this.

Most people do one of four things when a new version of a character is revealed:

1) "I really like this character, so I'm going to buy it!"

2) "I already have a version of this character, but I like this new one better so I'm going to buy it and sell/trade/keep the one I already have."

3) "I already have a version of this character, but I don't like the new one, so I'm not going to buy the new one. I'll keep my old one."

4) "I don't already have a version of this character/I don't like this character at all, and I don't like this version of him either, so I'm not going to buy it."

Nobody (but apparently you) buys a toy and goes, "Well, this'll do until they make a better one." If you don't like the toy, why would you buy it? ...no, why?

Yeah, I don't do this either. If the only TFs coming out are ones I'm not that interested in, then I fill my time with something else that is not TFs.

I used to do this unfortunately. That is how I wound up with like, 8 versions of Classics Hot Rod and still didn't have the actual version I wanted. And the same with Skeletor.

But, when I do start collecting again, it's gonna be different. I'm ONLY going to get the figures I really want and screw the rest.

I mean, I can understand accidentally or even intentionally ending up with multiple "conflicting" versions of characters; especially in a line like Star Wars or GI Joe. I can't even count how many Dukes I have, just from multipacks where he was packaged with another figure I actually wanted. And then there's the times where Hasbro just makes a new Duke and he's really cool so of course I want him...and then have to come up with some other character for him to be. (POC Jungle Duke became Sidetrack. Sidetrack was a 2002 repaint of Ambush who came...packaged with a Duke repaint in jungle colours. It works, even though this Duke looks more like that Duke repaint than the Ambush repaint he came with.)
