Just to point out... Ronald Raymond returning doesn't replace Jason Rusch as Firestorm. Both of them are Firestorm.
Ultimate Spidey was certainly his own dude, a very different Peter Parker than the original, but the fact that the original's still around sort of says that the character hasn't been sacrificed, exactly. You can still see regular Peter Parker doing his thing, it's just that the new guy'll be around, too.
I remember there being a similar argument when they had Mephisto take away the marriage, that you could still see a married Peter and MJ in The Amazing Spider-Girl comic (and then they canceled that series a couple years later). But it's not the same. They may be fundamentally the same character, but they are very different versions of that character.

Hey, Don Glover finally got something out of his "Cast me as Spiderman" schtick. Cool!

Moon Knight #4:
Moon Knight is still nutty. Oh boy, is he ever nutty. While Bendis has grown as a mask and tights writer over the last few years, this book show cases his roots with crime drama. The next issue is likely going to make or break this series for me.
Grade: C
Ultimate Fallout #4:
Oh boy. Here it is. The one that everybody is talking about. Rather than do a straight up review, I will post random thoughts in response to postings here.
Affirmative action legacy character all the way. Not that it can't succeed despite that, but the choice reeks of political correctness and diversity for the sake of it.
Sadly, I agree. The fact that the character is bi-racial Latino/Black makes the new Spiderman reek of being a character designed for focus groups.
The new Spiderman's dialogue reads very similarly to the Peter Parker Spiderman's dialogue. Given that one of Bendis' main strengths is dialogue, this is likely the product of Bendis' intention rather than an accident. It very much seems that Marvel/Bendis literally wanted "Spiderman but not-white". And, yeah, it seems gimmicky.
Bendis is the guy who made Luke Cage a worthwhile character. Hopefully, he will keep this from being Claremont's "all ethnic, all stereotype X-Men".
I think ending the book by killing off the main character is a real downer. I can't say I even like that idea.
I would rather have a good comic that kills off the main character than stagnant filler where the character is consistently safe.

Fucking idiot.

-really was tempted by a Firestorm compilation today. Curse the lack of money.

Hey, he had a point. There's no reason Spiderman can't be black. Just like there's no reason Spiderman can't be a girl (Spider-Girl) or Mexican (Spider-Man 2099).

Went to go pick up the latest ongoing... only to find it didn't come out this week. So I used my store credit to get caught up on events in the Ultimates universe. Got the TPB for Ultimate Vision, Ultimate Avengers, and Ultimate Annuals. So far, Vision is good, but I haven't read all the way through it yet.

Miguel O'Hara may have a riduculously focus grouped name and background. But, he is tolerable as a character.
Glover was being a twit and trying force an issue. You know this.

Speaking of Vision, I'm surprised she hasn't shown up in the Ultimate universe since then. You'd think the Ultimates would want to keep her around or that she'd show up with some of the big events that have happened... but no. She's totally MIA.

DUDE! SPOILERS!! Ok, I'm just kidding. But yeah, I'm only like three issues into the trade. Still you make a good point she seems like the kind of character that would be there for the big things. Maybe she's still off warning the rest of the universe about Gah Lak Tus?

Well anything I say to that would actually be spoilers for the ending. So I'll just say that things don't go as Vision planned...

It's all good, I don't really mind spoilers. I'm the guy who called Dom and asked what happened in the issue of ongoing where Jazz killed the human. That was about a week before my comic shop got it. So yeah, spoilers really don't bother me, I was just joking. So Vision pretty much just disappears after her story arc?
