If it absolutely came to it, Grimstone could have just scanned Slag and said "Okay, now a little off the horns here, and add a couple over there". Or hit up one of those "Dinosaurs Alive" animatronic exhibits? I mean, if dude wanted a dino alt. mode bad enough, he could find it. Or, if the writer of this guy's entirely hypothetical fiction wants it bad enough, they could make it work.
Only the Savage Land definitely isn't Dinobot Island.

As for looking at a 2-dimensional image and recreating large-scale the way it moves, I don't buy it, there's no reference of width, there's a lot of technical details about the source's joints that wouldn't be evident either.

And the idea that TFs can just scan other TFs and use that as their template seems like a dangerous game, where you have Starscream transforming into Bumblebee or something of that nature. And aside from THAT, there's also the fact that you're suggesting that some TFs are merely posers.
Sure, some TFs are posers. I don't see anything wrong with that. Plus, that's got to have come up before, somewhere. Also, now I think about it, IDW's Dinobots got their alt-modes from scanning fossils, so there's always that route.

As for the Savage Land and Dinobot Island, sure, they're not the same place, but if you're looking for living dinosaurs in the TF cartoon stories, that'd be one way to do it.

The idea that almost the entirety of PCCs are posers is too much. Then you're opening the door to entire societies of cosplaybots. Is that Megatron screwing Shockwave? No, just some low-level bots who once scanned them and are taking time off at Cybertron Comic-Con.

Scanning fossils has DNA results tho', on which information can be extrapolated.

We're not writing the official story though, it's not our job to fill the holes they are coming up with.

Quoted for truth.

But, Hasbro has said that PCC assumes that team names are "franchised", allowing for more than one team of Constructicons or Dinobots or whatever.

Well, great, now that image is in my head. Thanks, chief. I wouldn't say the whole mess of 'em are posers, at least as the bios describe 'em. For one thing, you got guys like the Rallybots and Destructicons whose team-names may have shown up before, but are different enough in this context. Steamhammer's definitely evoking the name of another team and is fully aware of it, other than that there hasn't been much said about whether the teams with re-used names have any connection or awareness of the originals. Though, thinking about it, if these dudes are just trying to be as cool as the originals, what does that say about...what's his face, Skyburst? He's all "I want to be as cool as....THE ARIALBOTS!" Wow, way to aim high there, guy.

And yeah, I know we're not writing the official story on these dudes, but I still wind up thinking about stuff like this. I can't help it, it's my inner fanboy that got hooked on the fact that Transformers have personalities and stories behind 'em, so when I see one I really like that's kind of a blank slate, like Grimstone, I start to fill in the blanks myself.

Plus, in the TF universe, the book of Beast Wars, chapter 1, tells us otherwise.

Oh, and if we're going for facts, robots do not possess sentience.

You read it, you can't un-read it!

Maximum posers! I just realized how posery these PCC guys really are, their "teams" are just 1 guy with 4 drones, it's like... it's like this!

Just don't expect what you make up to be carried into the actual canon, or for us to be on board with it, at least not without significant explanation.

There is actually plenty of back-story for the PCCs. But, there is little context for the characters themselves and their setting.

I might actually be up for that, Dom. I've just finished drawing one, and I'm in the process of drawing another. I'm hardly the world's greatest comic artist, but as soon as I finish my current project, I'd might be up for some creative collaboration. Of course, I don't have any of the PCCs for visual reference, so I might not be the best choice. But I'd be willing to give it a go.
