If I end up with a complete set, I will split it up.
O6, and anyone else, email if you are interested in this set. (The only thing I really want is Breakdown. And, I would be willing to keep Clench.)

Indeed. My birthday is earlier that month, so I'm sure to have some funds. Yay, funds!

I'm wondering what mold they used for Sky Byte and Gnaw. I don't recognize it.

Energon Sharkticon. He was part of the last wave of Deluxes, I think, or the one right before the combiners. It was definitely in that same timeframe. Him and Slugslinger were a pair of kickass dudes who never made it into almost any fiction. They were in the pack-in comic hanging out with Mirage. And they were awesome. Slugslinger needs a repaint in Generations. (Or, really, just rerelease him verbatim, he rules that much.)
Sharkticon was also kinda-sorta influenced by the unused TransTech Depth Charge design. And, even more awesome--Sharkticon's purple-and-yellow colour scheme is basically a negative image of regular Depth Chargey blue and olive greens.

Slugslinger and Sharkticon also show up in the Summer Special from '04. But, Slugslinger is so far off-model, (especially for the time), that there is little reason to want the toy based on that one story.
Either way, both are good moulds.

The Sky-Byte, I'm not so intersted in. It's got the new head and all, but the colors are so much like the original that I'm just not blown away by him.
Now, Gnaw, on the other hand, Gnaw is friggin' awesome and I'd go nuts for that one. If they're determined to do all the sharks with that mold, I'd be okay with another repaint in Overbite colors.
And yeah, the Sharkticon mold is awesome. A bit limited in the arm articulation, but the rotating guns on the space shark thing mode make up for it. I love the coloration of the original, too.

I'm...fourth-ing the love for the Sharkticon mold. That thing's one of my favorites to come out of Energon. So much that I stick him in my *G1* Decepticon display. I've retroactively added him to the roster.
My first reaction upon seeing those pics was "Argh argh argh why can't they transform it right why dammit?!". After I got over that, I decided that both looked pretty cool. Love the remolded head on Sky-Byte.
So...do ya think FunPub added the 'G2' moniker to this set as an afterthought? Because they're getting further from G2 with every new toy they reveal. It's still less random and thrown together than last year's set though, so that's something, I guess.

Nah, I think what happened was they wanted to do a punch of searing neon repaints, and decided G2 would work great for that. Because technically a lot of the symptoms of G2 toys started with the UK-exclusive guys like Pyro and Skyquake and them.
Also I don't think these are official pics, hence the mistransformations.

Mistransformations are common enough though. Look at any number of packaging shots.
Fun Publications might be retconning in a new G2/pre-Beast time span. We know they over-wrote the old G2 comics. Yeah, it is gonna read like a fanfic.

Doesn't it always? Is it me, or does it seem like they're taking unusually long this year to announce everything. I mean, Botcon is less than two months away and we haven't even seen any of the guest list yet. This time last year, most of it had been finalized.
