TF Procreation

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!
Generation 1, Generation 2 - Removable fists? Check. Unlicensed vehicle modes? Check. Kickass tape deck robot with transforming cassette minions? DOUBLE CHECK!!!

Ah come on, I *did* the definitive whining-about-the-TFU-comics-thread aaaages ago. =p Complete with jokes stolen by the TF Wiki. WE HAD A MOLE

Now then, *GoBot* reproduction is another matter...

EDIT: Had intended to just leave that last line there as a joke, but what the the pit? Presumably GoBots could reproduce like humans before they were cyborgs, since they've got binary genders *right* from the start (unlike some transforming robot series I could mention). But with the hard mechanical bodies comes a loss of squishy organic parts, so presumably their species now has a finite number? Unless it's possible to safely transplant a GoBot brain from one robot body to another. Still, that's a much more stirring concept than anything similar in TF, in my opinion.

Dang, GoBots wins AGAIN.

Is that thread still around? I'd love to see it!

One thing I was thinking- if they all started out as organic, human-looking aliens, it could make for some good stories if some Gobots wanted to transplant their brains into artificially grown human bodies and live out a normal life again.

I get the impression that they were more like Daleks: So horribly mutated that there would be little point in opening them up. I could be wrong though, I always hated Gobots growing up.

Pretty sure my main TFU comics thread was lost with BWTF. It's probably not as funny as I remember anyway, but the comedy experts at the TF Wiki seemed to think so.

My knowledge of Daleks is pretty limited, but as far as I know they're organic bodies in mechanical shells; say what you will about interpretation, but the GoBots cartoon at least made it pretty clear all that was left of their original bodies was their brains. If you opened up a GoBot anywhere but their head, all you'd find is gears and circuits.

think it's bullshit that the stupid fanwank rag that is the Botcon comic retconned all of Beast Machines to make Optimus Primal out to be the biggest fool in TF history.
I do not like it either. But, it counts.

I'm surprised they haven't killed off Cy-kill too.
Killing off Go-Bots in Easter Eggs is one of my least favourite cliches in Transfiction.

Yes, "our" franchise (which "we" had not a hell of much to do with the commercial and cultural success of) beat "their" franchise. Yeah, great, I liked TF better in the 80s as well, even though "Go-Bots" as a franchise had better toys. Yeah, I liked the more developed IP of TF. Hey, look, I picked a winner then and I am still crowing about it now! (Apparently, some people really need to savour that particular victory.)

(I have said it before, and i will say it again. Puzzlor was 10 years or so ahead of the best TF merge groups of the time and several years after. As much as I love Scrapper and those other homicidal engineers, Puzzlor was a much better toy.)

One thing I was thinking- if they all started out as organic, human-looking aliens, it could make for some good stories if some Gobots wanted to transplant their brains into artificially grown human bodies and live out a normal life again.
I always figured that the Go-Bots made as toys were not the only members of the species. Those guys were more or less brains in mech suits. But, it always made sense to me that there were other intact specimens out there. somewhere. And, if the whole species were only brains in mech-suits, then they may well have just been vat-grown or something.

Unfortunately, the only way we are likely to be getting new "Go-Bot" content is through the fan club. So, it really does not matter if/how they handle it, because it will probably be stupid.

Is that the same toy as Machine Puzzler (we just got straight Machine Robo imports over here, so sue me)? The six cars (inculding one police car) that merge with *no* extra kibble? Friggin' agreed.

I know this is your way of asking me to write a GoBots reboot fic. It's ok.

I really want IDW to relaunch GoBots.

As I understand it, Hasbro owns the IP, but not the moulding, for the franchise.

So, that means there is damn near no chance at all of getting a proper reboot of the 6 car merge team, regardless of what it ends up being called.

So, have I ever told you guys about the time I was at BotCon '07 and saw a complete Puzzlor set in package for only $90? And, did I tell you how much it hurt that I did not have the $90 to spare? (I was temping at the time, so $90 was a good chunk of money to have, never mind spend.) Can I tell you how much it hurts to think about now?

Next time you're a dick to me about fanfic I'm gonna post a picture of me putting my complete Puzzler in the oven or letting my cat throw up on it or something.

You would not dare.

I know you Gomess. You would not destroy something so glorious or precious as Puzzlor. You could not. And, you will not.
